Who's the best house insurer these days, please?
Too many variables which your collection will dictate.
If you want a policy that will cover a collection then after weeks of trawling and calling
DL came out on top fabulous personal service from 1st call, and they understand our stupid hobby (habit)

I'm with NFU, can't fault them and made a pretty big claim this year which they paid out within 10 days.
I'm also insured with NFU.
As an industry insider for the last 20 years, they are my absolute first choice.
Really depends how generic your requirements are. As soon as you step outside the standard conditions then the aggregators either can't or won't cover it. If it's listed or you have large collections, art work, potential flood risk, agricultural land etc etc
If that is the case, then going through a broker can be worthwhile. It gets you access to products which the retail market won't have plus they'll be manually underwritten if required so you know you're getting the right cover.
I have just renewed my annual house / contents insurance and have received a pleasant surprise on the watch side.
Previously there were quite a few restrictions on the watch insurance such as owing to the fact that my safe was an old one, the contents (watches) were not insured. Also I had to be either in the same room as the watch if it was stolen or had to be wearing it.
As from the renewal date, all restrictions are lifted. Therefore if any of the watches get stolen or are lost, I will be paid for the loss.
This applies to all specified items such as pictures and antiques etc.
Happy days as they say.
If I may ask who did you renew with

I went through a specialist broker because my policy is bespoke.
The Broker is BNL/Greenfield Insurance Services Limited and the contact number is 01489 579808.
Really see what they offer, make sure they include the exclusions. I've not heard anything overtly negative about them.
The industry changes on a roughly 6 month cycle, that could mean a change of underwriter part way through your policy. All legal as well.
One very famous insurer sat in a meeting and said because they had taken a beating on motor claims, property claims would be looked at more closely so it would help them recover some of the costs. No I won't say who it is.
I had thought WoS were offering vouchers that insurers then pass on the customer? Assuming for RRP or insured value depending on policy.
Sounds odd that they would give a Daytona as an insurance replacement. But great if they do!
I'm with John Lewis. They were excellent when we were burgled.
They also pursued a claim against a driver who knocked my wife off her bike and seriously injured her- we didn't even realise that was covered under our home policy.
