Well wasn't June full of surprises? Not only did England beat Germany in the knock out stages of a football tournament (without resorting to penalties either) but Carlton-Brown was seen sporting a Citizen. Both surprising and disturbing in equal measure, our resident Earl was seen parading around in fishnets. Moving swiftly on.....
Numbers continued to decrease as the membership found other things to keep them busy on a Friday. Some 583 watches were posted in June which was one less than even last year's record low. The decline was echoed in the number of different brands shown, down to 121 which is the lowest this year. Despite that eighteen new brands were posted, seven of which were new to the year and a further eleven were new to the Friday Thread.
Having said all of that Rolex did try to buck the trend. They started strongly, winning the first three weeks of the month and even threatening to wrestle the weekly high from Seiko on the 18th, eventually falling one short with thirty watches. However this was still a new weekly high for Rolex this year. Seiko started well, only just behind Rolex until the 18th when they plummeted to twelve in a week (a record low for them) however they came back strongly on the 25th and beat Rolex by three. Omega, on the other hand, had a sordid month. Failing to break into double figures on the 4th (beaten into fourth place by Timefactors) and never scoring more than fifteen. Omega's struggles in June led to a new all time low of forty four.
Elsewhere there were brands that did well and there are those that did not so well. CWC are still going strong and hit a new weekly high for the year. Ming are also seeing weekly highs, hitting a new all time weekly high of four but not managing to top their current monthly high of seven. Even Patek have hit a new weekly high of three this year. On the other side of the coin Damasko, Hamilton and JLC have had their worst month this year (six, four and three respectively). For Hamilton this translated to their lowest monthly score since I started counting.
Brands making their first appearances this year include Geckota and Nixon and Gav's lovely Olma was their first example this year. New additions to the ever lengthening list of brands to appear on the Friday thread include Saga, Quinting, Benzinger and one that was well Out of Order.
As ever there were some fine examples of wrist bourne timepieces. Yokel's fine Benzinger Subskription, Verv's Avia Marino and Itsguy's beautiful vintage Seiko Skyliner all caught my eye.
In general exceptions to rules tend to make life interesting. In terms of watches, as a rule, I generally don't like either Panerai (large and often too similar) and fliegers (perhaps too stark and again too similar) however this month has seen the appearance of two exceptions. ASW1's Equation of Time (PAM00670?) is unusual and has a lovely blue sunburst dial. Zelig's LE pvd Fortis B-42 is a very elegant iteration of the traditional flieger. They are regulars on the Friday Thread and they never fail to make me smile when they appear.

Interesting insights, I'm often surprised how low the Holy Trinity are given there are a relatively large number around these parts. I guess their owners are shy, or just too busy, or wearing something else most of the time, or just don't want to show off... All possible reasons.
Thanks for the shout out for the Equation of Time. I do think of myself as an informal brand ambassador (due to my Panovirus infection/affliction/affection) and the 670 is the star of the armoury IMO.
I'm always interested in stats and trends, so many thanks again. I've not participated in the Friday thread much lately - it used to be a 'dress down' day which most in my workplace interpreted more as an 'express your personality' day, so I'd usually grab something that I considered particularly interesting to me. Since COVID it has become my 'work from home' day, which generally means a G-Shock or nothing.

I struggle sometimes to rationalise why I like the Friday threads, aside I suppose from the delightful horological pornography therein.
Perhaps it's Eddie's very smart 'containment policy' of limiting WRUW threads to just one weekly on the day that signals the close of the working week. I do know I have to stop myself from posting a dozen or so gushing "Wow, gorgeous watch!" comments each and every week - the sheer diversity of extremely attractive watches at every price-tier is amazing and heartening in a World where the signal of sincere enthusiasm for horology often gets drowned-out by the noise of the "GR8 rollie m8 - wots UR investmint wurf this weak£££?!?" brigade...
However you slice'n'dice it, these monthly analyses cheer me greatly - gives full vent to the inner nerd, so thanks once again, Sir, for this.
Thanks for taking the time to compile and to analyse, it always makes for an interesting read. Maybe I should wear my Seiko more often, to help give Rolex a run for its money in July. Though holidays are beckoning and that means G-Shock in my case.

Here, a little bit later than promised, is the half time analysis. Yes, I am struggling to believe it but we are over half way through the year. So far, on the Friday Posts we have posted a grand total of 4240 watches (up from last year's 4095) from a total of 298 different brands (again up from last year's 283). Interestingly this year's top five are the same as last year's and all, except for Omega, are down when compared to this point last year. Which suggests that, not only are the numbers being boosted by more brands but also, the less popular brands are becoming more so. However this is set against a backdrop of declining numbers. June's monthly total (583) is 28% from April's peak (813). It will be interesting to see what the next six month bring.
For those of you who like a chart here are a couple. The first is the top ten monthly watches shown with the overall monthly totals. Thirteen brands have made it in to the top ten and there is how they compare with each other:

Very good question. The watches do shine a light on the human behaviour on show. I think it was the worms I posted in March's analysis which threw up some interesting patterns. And then the strange Seiko Peak in April threw up yet more questions.
I am sure anthropologist will have a field day with the data.
