    Sinn U50 v Pelagos

Hi all-I'm considering one of these 2 watches.
I appreciate there is a price difference but that aside, does anybody have experience or an opinion of both?
I used to own a U1 on silicone strap, but think the 41mm U50 might suit me better with a steel bracelet. The Pelagos seems very strong technically and I have tried it on and the size is good.
    Any thoughts appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard

Hi Richard, I've owned the U1, the Pelagos LHD and most recently the U50 SDR. Sadly not all at the same time though. The Pelagos I'd say wears comparably to the U1 on my 6.75" wrist - for me just a bit too big and overhanging my wrist bone (I think without checking both have a 50mm+ lug-to-lug). The U50 wears much more comfortably to me and is substantially lighter.

I did have the U1 on silicon strap but found the large clasp to be a bit of a beast and it'd constantly be hitting the table when I was using my keyboard. The Pelagos was on bracelet and despite the adjustable clasp I struggled to get a fit that didn't feel a tad too tight when my wrist expanded. The U50 I had on a couple of elastic single pass straps and for me wore the most comfortably on that (although it's worth noting that I've gone completely off bracelets in the last few years).

I'd say all three were noticeable watches (at least I felt they were to others), but in different ways - the U1 and Pelagos purely down to their size, whereas the red accents on the U50 SDR, exacerbated perhaps by the all-black bezel, made it jump out.

For a weight and looks comparison there's some good pics here over on WUS.

    Sinn U50 v Pelagos

    I own a U1 and ETA Pelagos
The Pelagos does not wear much smaller than the U1 in fact I would say both wear similar,
E.g. The Tudor is 42mm across the bezel the U1 44mm the Tudor is 13.6mm thick, the U1 is 1 mm thicker
Both have a 50mm lug to lug.
So if size is a concern go for the U50
The price is a major factor, but you get a better watch with the Tudor but it’s a lot more expensive.

    Tudor Pros include:
Build quality is much better on the Pelagos - it has the best bezel of any watch I own.
Lume is 1000 times better on the Pelagos
Clasp is better in the Pelagos (as you will know there is no micro adjustment on the sinn clasp)
Titanium so for a large watch it’s light (although not that light)

    U series pros include:
The U series will mark less than the Pelagos
The U series is a unique but now often copied design
You will not see another in the wild unless you are talking to a WIS.

There are a few micros that now have similar dials and hand sets.

Thanks Andy-that's really helpful and the photos demonstrate the difference in thickness very well. I think I can deal with the larger size, especially as it would not be a daily wearer.

That’s the one that sprang to mind at first. I could not remember what it was called though.

    Thank you-a good summary.
I did enjoy my U1 and looking back it is 10 years since I sold it to help fund something else I think. I'm leaning towards the Tudor at this stage....

Both supercool tool watches. Honestly you with not go wrong with either. Personally I opted for this one.
