We live in a NE suburb of San Diego, CA on top of a hill about 965 feet elevation. Our house is near the round water tank upper left:
This is Lake Miramar, which is a reservoir with a dam at lower left. There is a 4.9 mile road that surrounds the lake, where I walk and used to run (pre-hip replacement).
This is a photo I took today looking west from our hill toward La Jolla:
Down the hill from us to the west is a nature preserve, Los Penasquitos Canyon, where I hike about five mornings each week. These are photos I took on my hike there this morning:

Those photos bring back memories. My Mum and Dad bought a house on Seafield Drive when he retired. I have vivid memories of the sun setting behind Arran.It is ...I split my time between Ardrossan and Ayr

Our (2nd) home is down there, a stone’s throw from the beach and a 30 second walk to the pub.

Standing on the patio, first is looking towards the severn crossing and sharpness docks, second is slimbridge wetland centre on the other side of the river and last one is towards gloucester area.
London isn’t so bad. I’m in SE London, just inside Zone 3 and 10 minutes from London Bridge - view south-ish from our loft bathroom.
And from the other side of the Eildons, The classic view - from what is called 'Scott's View' (Sir Walter)1/4 mile up the road..................

What area are you in?It’s an old pic from Feb but this pic doesn’t capture it but I live in North London on green belt land - my gardens backs on to fields. Lovely part of UK for me. Come out and go right and I’m in London as you know it and 45 minutes into central London on the tube or I go left and it’s farm land , and golf courses and fields that makes you feel you’re a million miles from London.

I’m only a few minutes away from you as well. I agree it is a lovely place to live. I took this from the top of the house early one morning a few years ago looking towards London. Your picture made me think of it.
If I'm not mistaken you live a few miles over the other side of the A1? I go cycling over to Ridge and Shenley a few times a week. The old Village jail is amusing !
No, but I can see them from the garden too, just about.
The distant mountains in that photo are above Ballygawley, Co Tyrone
Ironically, the builder who built the house for us can see his house from the garden - about 8 miles as the bird flies

A couple of times as a teenager I was too engrossed in a Gameboy or a phone and ended up at the pub there on the 307. The horror when the engine turned off and you realised where you were!
Nice pub down at The Gate but haven't been in ages. Used to love the steak sandwich and chips for £5.50 with the fire on.
I once jumped on what I thought was the 184 (but was the 307) heading towards Arnos Grove (where I grew up ) fell asleep and ended up in brimsdown !

I may live in a humble mid terrace, but I love that this is just outside my back gate.
From my office window at home...
I call this one "Last Mile Home"
I am happy when I get here and I put my foot down.
I'm at the south of Sheffield with the Peak district ten mins away but never really visit the place!
Anyhow, A couple of pics that are enough to get me to throw another log on the fire!!
Two mins by car from me is the old sythe works, The Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, It's centuries old and still works on certain days!, Had the best days fishing ever in the Mill pond- A fish a throw!!
Not the nicest place in the world and i'm so happy not to have to go any more although it's going back in to public ownership soon! They used to have open days for the workers family and friends, It seemed to have been kicked in to touch in the last few years though..
Anyhow, A view down the back garden..

Our last two apartments, China and Vietnam respectively.
We've now come down to earth and live at ground level. Lost the views, but it's nice to be back living on a street.
We're living in the clouds today, lol.
