Can you help me find a new strap?

Evening, I’m looking for a new strap for my late grandfathers Rotary.

I love wearing it but it’s on a very hard and uncomfortable fake croc at the moment and I’m hoping to find something softer and nicer.

The watch is toned rose gold so looking for a chocolate brown calf, maybe shell cordovan if I can find one for sensible money. Watch is 34mm and slim so needs to be thin and unpadded.

Looking up to £50 but will stretch for a good quality.

Any suggestion from experience from trusted sources? No Ebay fake Cordovan etc.

Forgot to mention the lugs are 18mm...

    You could check out ziczacleather.com

They have some exotic leathers but I am a bit concerned they will not be ethically farmed but they have some thin calf leather straps too

Watch Obsession have a good range of straps that would suit the bill.

Hirsch Osiris – lovely soft, thin leather

Or if you want croc, then the Duke:

Anything by Hirsch is high quality and the two above won't break the bank.

Got to second the Hirsch suggestion - hard to beat their quality at the price, and most designs have various buckle finish options to improve matching.

I had a similar issue with a Universal Geneve Golden Shadow. I had it on a Cousins Bellini alligator for quite some time but was never completely happy with it - a couple of years ago somebody here was selling a gloss Patek alligator and I've worn it much more since. Go for something really thin and unpadded and, because of the size, don't rule out something a little shiny in lizard, crocodile or alligator. I suspect only the former is doable on your budget.

    Before (the top one obviously)

But, take a look at Cousins - here for example:

    You are a brave man.
Looking at 90% of the pics on the ‘perfect’ strap- watch combination thread, my confidence in the group’s ability to choose/recommend a strap is not particularly high.

Does that mean my recent contribution falls into the 10% category ?

You might look at the Rios1939 Seattle strap, it is unpadded shell cordovan available in a 18/20/22 mm and few different colors. Around $60 or so, no idea how much in GBP with VAT though.

I have a Hirsch Merino that's very soft, thin and subtle. Mine is black but it looks like they do brown too.

I’d go to Cousins and get a shiny real croc strap in dark brown or black - their alligator and croc selection represent incredible value and look great
