    Datejust appreciation thread

After looking at datejust recently, I really have taken a shine to them. I think the new fluted dial is rather nice. Would probably go 36mm too.

Bang some pics up of your favourite DJ spec.

This is my 16200 from 1997. It’s the most comfortable watch I have ever owned, plus looks great in any situation in my opinion.

I personally prefer the size of the 36mm model even on my 7 1/4" wrist over the large model which to my eye looks of of proportion for that style of watch but each to there own. I'm also not keen on the 6 digit reference due to all the polished parts and feel the 5 digit models have just the right amount of vintage charm while being a practical daily wearer.

    My 126231

The "rhodium" dial is something to behold but not easy to photograph (well for me anyway).

Bimeral datejust with jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel is the quintessential Rolex, a design classic that still looks sharp. Some dial combinations work better than others. I would go for a silver or white dial rather than champagne/ gold and stick with the more conventional patterns. 36mm always seems to work best IMO, whether its the latest version, the previous 6 digit or the older 5 digit.

Only drawback is the eye- watering prices!

    Here is my 41mm Azzurro.

Quite a dressy piece with a great sunburst effect.

Agreed, however when you look at other models in the line up they represent good value for money if you can call it that!

The grey dial is fantastic , the differing shades on the dark grey/ rhodium is very nice ( as are the other sunburst offerings). Really had to show them off as you said in pics, very different in the hand.

That looks great with the rose gold markers.

Probably (to me at least) THE most iconic Rolex.

As we discussed on Sunday, 36mm all the way for me too. I love the turned bezel and jubilee but for understated class, smooth and oyster all the way.

2019, DJ41 rhodium dial, smooth bezel, Oyster bracelet. Got it for my 50th & it ticks all the boxes for me; looks good with everything, reasonably low key, great proportions. My only criticism is that in certain lights it's not easy to read because there's not much contrast, could be my eyes though!

My apologies for photo, I've caught the rhodium dial nicely but the bracelet is gopping, show again bracelet!

Here’s my two week old DJ41. Contemplated a 36mm but glad I waited for the 41. Being a bigger lad it suits me better

I have a Buckley dial DJ which I bought off the forum getting on for 7 or 8 years ago.
Mine has a white gold bezel though so it wasn’t yours.
I can’t imagine ever parting with it.

My 16014 from ‘83 with the impossible-to-capture Champagne dial. One of only two watches I would really struggle to part with.

    Love Datejust!!!!!

My first, 1601. 1973 watch, all original 14k two tone. sold to raise funds for a 16613……

Eventually replaced by my 16013, which had a non-cyclops crystal.

Had it serviced recently and a correct crystal fitted.

And I have this DJ2 which I gently refurbished and had serviced. Link here: https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...d-modification

And had the dial changed for my preferred stick dial (Authentic Rolex dial)

And a bit of bling! Mrs RJM has a 16014 with a non-authentic mother-of-Pearl diamond dial.

And these two are worn by colleagues at work……. Both lovely!

Probably my favourite watch at the moment. Tapestry dial and engine turned bezel, to my mind just about the perfect combination.

I wish I still owned it! Sold it a couple years ago to fund another purchase. I think it was a 1969 model.
