Fixing leather belts: a "riveting" thread

    Hello All

I've got some leather belts but the ends where they fold over and wrap around the buckle are coming away. The riveted ones are fine, just the threads on the stitched ones.

So I want to fix 'em with metal! Proper job.

    Do I:

1.) drill holes with a wood bit and use the sort of screw-in rivets you see on some watch straps, secured with a dab of locktite

2.) take / send them somewhere to be fixed (if so, who and where?)

3.) buy a tool that will do the job (if so, what and where?)

Go to it tz! Tell me what and how!

Just google 'saddler's rivets' and enter a world of wonder!

But hold out for solid brass...

Brass Chicago screws are what hold one of my belts together.

Sex bolts should work well if you don't want to get the kit for riveting but either will work.

With slight trepidation I googled "sex bolts" and was pleased to discover they are not an erotic body piercing.

Seems they are like the ones on pilots' / aviator watch straps

You need a hole punch on the leather really. A wood bit will chew it something rotten.
