I FEEL LIKE I'M DIAGONALLY PARKED IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
Brutal. What age?
Sorry to hear that, I dread the day I will have to do this
Remember the good times.
Sorry for your loss. As you say time is a wonderful healer but I think it’s fair to say you’ll never forget the happy times.
Went through the same thing just two years ago, still hurts, my sympathies are with you.

I'm so sorry, they are such a part of the family. We had to put to sleep our Jack Russel Spot last year after 17 years and we were devastated. I feel your pain.
Remember the good times.
Sorry for your loss. We had to do the same with our 14.5 year old Weimaraner last year.
We picked up a Border puppy a couple of weeks ago as I’ve always liked them

So sorry, he looks an absolute darling.
A proper little scruff…. I’d never be without a dog…. They bring so much joy…
Chin up….
I'm very sorry - my condolences. Such a hard decision, but made for your dog rather than yourself. Like others have said, something I dread.
A sad day indeed but it looks like he was well loved and so had a great life. That's the best any dog could hope for.
Think about the good times. I'm sure there were many.
Sad and always tough. You have my sympathy and best wishes.
Condolences to you and your family. We have a 1year old, and though I am a cat person, I will miss her a lot when she's gone.
Really sorry to hear that as we have a 14 year old Border who is slowing down and I get upset at the thought of it , great dogs and companions for life .
Man that’s tough.
Always difficult, our pets aren’t just animals they are part of our families with their own little characters, needs & nuances.
We had 2 cats for 19 years & I don’t mind admitting I cried like a baby the day we had to say goodbye.
Hopefully you will have many years of happy memories to look back & remember the little fella by.
Stay strong brother.

Thank you all for the sentiment it's really very much appreciated. We're struggling a little today but once we're all back at work on Monday and minds are elsewhere things will get easier.
Post 20 pretty much sums it up as it happened yesterday.
He was called Otto, had a wonderful 15 years and will be massively missed.

Sad sad day, my condolences. We lost ours about four years ago at age 11 and we still miss him.
Always so hard. I'm sure Otto lived his best life, it's all we can do for our pals.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I know how you feel, said goodbye a few times.
Possibly a bit early but a new pup can help heal the pain.
Cheers,
Neil.
So sorry for your loss, we've had to do it before and it's like losing part of the family.
This brings it all back for me. My Muffindog developed a large intestinal tumor and had to be put to sleep. I brought her home for one last day going to her favourite places and doing her favourite things. The next day she was just ready, and I will never be able to explain how I knew that, I just knew. I held her as she slipped away over the rainbow bridge. The memory still brings me to tears.
My heartfelt sympathy OP, it will be easier as time passes, but you will never forget the friendship over all the years.
