I saw it many years ago at university (early '80s) and thought it was hilarious. When I saw it again a few years ago it barely raised a smile, and I was sadly disappointed, probably more with myself in not finding this classic that funny anymore. I think I need to see it again to see if it is any better.

Hopefully they'll also screen "high anxiety",

    Blazing Saddles.

Had a bad day today. Spotted this thread. Watched it again on Iplayer.
    So many high points.
I wish I had a pound for every time the line"excuse me while I whip this out" was used/heard.
"Stampeding the woman and raping our cattle"
    "Dito"
    The list is endless.
Cheered me up no end. The man is a genius?

Truly one of the most quotable films of all time. I think, after Jaws, this is probably the movie I’ve watched the most times. It’s a lot!

    Well, let’s play chess.

Absolutely hysterical stuff. Brooks is amazingly funny in interviews also … he’s basically just like his films .

Released in the US on the 7th of February 1974.

Released in the UK in late June 1974 (the 20th or 23rd, depending on the source) .

I saw it in the ABC Cinema, Kilmarnock on Monday, 30th December that year. (It was a first date with the fragrant Yvonne. It didn't last!)

God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore.

    Rape, murder, arson & rape

It's been too long since I last saw this, wonder if it's on Netflix or Amazon

    Blazing Saddles on Beeb 4

I wonder how long this movie would be if the “offensive” parts were removed.

No idea how to put little quote marks aside the word offensive.
