Creed Royal Oud, Tom Ford Noir de Noir & Oud Wood, in that order. I also think TF's Ombre Leather is one of the best bang-for-buck frags around. Didn't expect to like it, as I find the q. similar Tuscan Leather unpleasant, but it's been a real grower for me.
Never tried any Penhaligons though. Based on the above, can anyone suggest some I might like?
Of course. These are just the fragrances I like at the moment. This will change obviously, but right now this is where my preferences are. So while I'll try all sorts of different things, I'm also curious to hear about frags that are vaguely in this ballpark. I don't think that's so unusual.
Thx for the recommendations though.

I do like a good whiff of fragrance myself. My current collection is
Sisley - Eau de Campagne
Bond no9 - Scent of Peace for him
Bond no9 - Bleecker Street
Tom Ford - Costa Azzura Acqua
Tom Ford - Ombré Leather
Maison Margiela - Jazz Club
Maison Margiela - By the Fireplace
Kilian - Intoxicated
Serge Lutens - Five o’Clock Au Gingembre
The Sisley is my favourite. Probably the nicest scent I’ve ever smelled. Smells just like tomato vines. Delicious.

Haekels do an improved version of blasted Heath that lasts a bit longer too but can’t remember if it’s pegwell or Joss bay (will check when I’m back at my flat later)
I’m really impressed with Hudson’s No2 which is very underpriced and my current favourite that me and my partner both wear. It is a smokey rose scent with a bit of oud but still fresh enough to wear most of the year round. They sell small bottles and testers.
If you like the smell of Creed, then try Victor No9 at £13 for 80ml its amazing. My lady prefers it to all my after shaves.

I remember 4711 years ago, now tend to use what I’m given at Xmas birthday’s etc, currently in the drawer,
Bleu by Chanel
Lacoste
Hugo Boss
You by Georgio Armani
Ralph Lauren Red
Have had Dior Savage and Fahrenheit for many years.
My dad still has Old Spice, mind he’s nearly 98!

Or, if you're not going to be in the area anytime soon, try their Sample Set. It's free postage at the moment.
Ok so I went into the Penhaligon's shop in Bath earlier in the week, en route to picking a Seamaster as it happens. Had a nice chat with a man called Konstantinos in there, who recommended the Tragedy of Lord George, Halferti Leather, Cairo & Terrible Teddy. Surprisingly enough I liked them all, maybe Halferti Leather a little less, Lord George, Cairo & Teddy were great though.
I need to get hold of some samples I think.
This bloody thread has opened a can of worms..
Received a bottle of Creed Virgin Island Water today. Quite like it, wife reckons it’s too floral.
Any recommendations for something between it and Tom Ford Oud Wood (which I really like)
Scent Samples have a sale this weekend https://www.scentsamples.uk.com/

Love the cypress one from extro cosmesi
But the current eau de Goat is from Ralf Neuner in Austria called Alt Innsbruck
Lots of menthol for that lingering “chill” and tobacco scent- gorgeous stuff and at £25 or so, a total handmade bargain.
Eau de Goat : anyone else tried this? :-)
I have a few ml left in a Creed Virgin Island Water and an almost full 10ml sample of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanile if anyone would like to try them?
Also now Creed Viking if anyone wants a try
Maybe if the Tom Ford didn’t suit, it could be passed on for a few to try?

Lagerfeld
That said, Mrs UTBL bought me something fancy a while ago. I didn’t get on with it so when the tumble drier, which was temporarily living in the garage, needed deodorising (don’t ask) I added the contents to the load load of damp clothes.
The resulting aroma, a combination of nice aftershave, petrol, tyres and assorted oils is better than anything.

I like the great smell of Dermot O'Leary :)
'Vertive and Cedarwood' from his 'range' at Marks & Sparks..
does anyone know what this scent is copying ? or which more expensive, stronger scent smells like O'Leary's Vertive & Cedarwood?
thanks,
^^ nice one, thanks! I'll check it out..
I have Terre d'Hermes and can recommend it.
good to see that it (Terre d' Hermes) has a few fans on here..I ordered the 'Eau Intense Vetiver' Eau de Parfum to try it out..
Drawing a vague parallel to the thread on non OEM motor parts, what are folk’s opinions on these imitation/copycat fragrances that smell just like the original? I fancy a bottle of Creed but am tempted to try a smell-a-like at a fraction of the price
Prefer avgas myself
Made a few million cubic metres of Av gas in my time….and even more A1.
Never thought to bottle it up and sell it
Penhaligons The Tragedy of Lord George.
I was about to order some more Creed Aventus from Palmolive on Basenotes, but it looks like he hasn't been active for a few months. Does anyone know if he's still in business or if there are any other recommended sellers doing splits?
thanks
He left there a while ago to trade in his own, think he had a temp ban for something or another.
https://decants.wordpress.com
This is where he operates from now, used it for a Viking decant a good year or so ago now.

Perfect, many thanks
They certainly were when he was on basenotes forum & he had a strong following. Cannot see why he’d have changed his approach / risk reputation.
Very knowledgeable chap who is passionate about sharing scents as it helps him fund his ability to try new & different scents.
Seems that there is enough people here to warrant a swaps/trade/sell fragrance sub-forum?
Some stuff is not worth selling on SC if it's too used up, but could be swapped/decanted for others to let us try stuff we wouldn't otherwise try?
I suppose this thread could be a sticky to serve that purpose?
It can be expensive buying blind and can even mount up if you buy a lot of samples, so decants or swaps could be of interest to a few of us.
Thanks for the update regarding Palmolive, always had great service when I’ve used him before via base notes.
