    The Gentleman's Fragrance thread

As we are clearly all men of culture and the finer things (lol m8). I thought it only right that we have a dedicated thread to discuss our manly fragrances.

No doubt my cheap slap will be overshadowed by £200 a bottle stuff within 10 posts but...

As I love the heavier spicy fragrances and don't like to spend a fortune on it, I love...

Bentley Intense @ around £27 a bottle for 100ml EDP it's unbelievably strong and long lasting. Dense and heavy.

John Varvatos Dark Rebel @ around £40 a bottle is another hidden gem imo. Rum, Tobacco, Woody, Spicy, heavy fragrance.

So.. do your worst. From Hai Karate to Clive Christian, all are welcome!

    The Gentleman's Fragrance thread

    https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...ght=Aftershave

There was this thread a while back, I too like a bit of the smelly stuff. One of my favourites is called Gorse by Laboratory Perfumes Ltd. Does exactly as it says on the tin smells herby and heathery but in a blokes way.
I have more expensive stuff but much prefer this. (It’s still pretty pricey though)

For every day work from home pong I quite like these

Both cheap as chips and fresh smelling.

It actually smells pretty nice, it’s unlikely to get a bung hole fizzing though - apparently

Currently in the cabinet, as follows.

    Penhaligon:-
    Terrible Teddy
    The Duke
    Halfeti
    As Sawira

    Le Labo:-
    Patchouli 24
    Rose 31

    Dior:-
    Oud Rosewood
    Oud Ispahan
Fahrenheit (well, you’ve got to haven’t you).

    Aramis:-
    Tobacco Reserve
    Modern Leather

    Molton Brown:-
    Oudh Accord & Gold
    Tobacco Absolute

    Tom Ford:
    Tobacco Vanille
    TF Extreme

    Maison Lancôme Oud Bouquet

    Acqua di Parma Ebano

    D.R. Harris Sandalwood Cologne

Rum Knuckles EDT (cheap as chips from TK Maxx and well worth the 5 quid I paid !!)

    Roberto Cavali Tiger Oud

Also have a number of Ouds/Oils from places such as Sunnamusk (Sandal Rose in particular is tremendous), and a few random Arabic bottles that you inevitably pick up when on travels.

I’m not going to bother checking the drawer in the spare room… will leave it at that !

Love Creed and have Aventus and Viking at present. Used the last of my Virgin Island Water and while back. Just run out of Green Irish Tweed which I’d recommend you trying.

Also have the Colognia which is lovely and a couple more Aqua’s.

As a youngster I liked Monsieur Rochas eau de toilette (probably as a consequence of spending too much time in France).
When I used to shave I applied Dior Eau Sauvage after-shave balm (stopped shaving years ago and now just do a close trim).
Wright's coal tar soap is my fragrance of choice these days.

It was frequented by an interesting cast of characters. One day I overheard this conversation between two tough looking gentlemen wearing Lacoste tracksuits.

"Jayzus, you smell nice, what's that?"
    "It the Mister Miyagi."

Apart from Penhaligons, you must smell like me, great choices there. I don’t have them all available at once though, jealous of being able to pick & choose between all those.

TF Tobacco Vanille and Viking have to be my all time favourites. VIW is next on my list, having bought a decant a couple of months ago.

Don’t wear anything these days, I rarely leave the house.

I am from Florence, and use the OSMN Peau d’Espagne cologne.

The Officina di Santa Maria Novella is a pharmacy/officine/parfumerie created in 1221 from the Benedictine Monks of the SMN Church.

It has been continuously opened since, except during the Charles V invasion in 1503, and during WWII.

It’s still a great place to visit and I particularly like this cologne because of its tobacco an leather tones.

I started buying with the money saved from quitting smoking. Every time my smoke free app told me I'd saved on fags enough for a bottle, I bought one.
It is/was my way of celebrating not smelling like an ashtray and keeping motivated.

Before quitting I only had Aventus Sartorial and Safari :)

I cringe at how much money I wasted on that habit over the years.

Never realised how bad I smelled until people come back from a fag break, truly awful.

Bleu de Chanel is my favourite, sometimes alternate with Boss Intense. Unless I've been in the workshop then it's probably a combo of 3 in 1, Cocobolo and marking blue.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I stumbled across a perfumery today in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.
    https://www.jorumstudio.com/about
They only have about 8 different scents, but Chloe was really helpful. The wife and I had a good sniff of them all, and I tried out the ‘Phloem’ on my skin before heading for some lunch. Couldn’t finish my scran quick enough, had to go back and pick up a bottle.

If you are in the area, we’ll worth popping in for 10mins to have a niff.

    Andy.

Maybe i never mentioned in our conversations about seiko watches that another interest of mine is fragrances.

Aventus is nice. was really good many years ago. its not exclusive anymore and everyone has heard of it or owns it or a clone of it.

All I know is that the frags I like are hated by my wife and daughter - tough, don't worry I tell them, I'll try something different when the bottles are empty.
My other problem is that 'niche' frags tend to be inconsistent from one batch to the next - Creed Avenue is a perfect example
