    Things you'll never understand

Is there anything that plays on your mind or bugs you that you simply can't understand? I'll go first.

People with semi detached houses who turn them into terraced houses with side extensions. Why would you do it and why did the neighbour agree to it either?!

Now they have to drag their garden waste bins, lawn mower, bicycles and everything through the house as they have no side access. I don't get it. Seems like madness.

I also don't understand chips and gravy and never will. Use ketchup or bake a potato.

‘Detached’ houses that you’d be hard pushed to walk between. Mussels.

    - chrono on a dive watch

    - people who say brought when they mean bought

    - people who wear a mask, but not over their nose

What the moon has to do with the tide! Magnetic pull and all that. Doesn’t make sense. Had it explained to me and still doesn’t. More to the point the moon should be staying out of earths business!

Cyclists who refuse to use the newly expensively constructed cycle paths that the council would have you believe were newly and expensively constructed to improve cyclists experience.

Bus Lanes. As above, but remove Cyclist, add Buses.

    Councils. See above.

How Death in Paradise seems to still engage my Wife, even after all the DVD’s have been watched, repeatedly. Even I know who did it..

and, as this is a watch forum..

Why I have to explain to my work colleagues that it is simply not possible to walk into a Rolex AD and buy a New watch they have seen on the Rolex website...

Why taxis insist on driving in lane 2 of the motorway, even when no other cars around.

House electrics. Why when a light fitting is on a wall, it has 2 wires, but on the ceiling, it has about 27

How the universe can go on and on......................

It has to have a boundary, but then - what is there beyond that boundary? Has to be 'something'

Even if we are all in some kind of Truman Show - how many layers of the onion are there?

    Sausages.
    A miracle.
You cook them, chop them up, chew them into minute little pieces, swallow them, attack them with stomach acids.....

Yet the following morning - you go to the toilet - and they have miraculously reformed themselves back into their original shape!

I have watched numerous videos and discussed this with many many people and honestly my brain hurts at the thought of how large the universe is or the fact it could go on forever.

Yes agree, I used taxis as an example because the last time I ventured down the M4 in one, I asked the question, he replied ‘ it saves my tyres’ face plant, doh….

Particles, atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, etc.. I still have no idea what is smallest and then switch off when they (the clever folk) start talking about electrons being in multiple places at the same time...

What I don’t understand is why my kitchen sink plug, designed to fit with a rubber seal, leaks, but get a few odd bits of onion, mushroom, whatever, and when they collect in the plug hole they’ll hold water for days.

    Peoples obsession with cars.
They are ridiculously priced for what is a depreciating asset that mostly you sit going nowhere fast in.
People spend a significant chunk of their income just to lease/part own while still renting or living with their folks.
They can do over 100mph when the speed limit is far lower.
People drive just down the road when they could easily walk/cycle. (Except often infrastructure is designed round the car as primary transport when it shouldn’t be in a lot of locations)
And then there’s the status thing, “what do you drive?” Who gives a toss!?

But then you could also say ‘People who buy a watch that’s more expensive than a Casio’

I’ll never understand how people can moan about the cost of petrol per litre.
A product that is expensive to extract, refine, transport and sell (thanks to the tax applied). It goes up by a penny and the country loses its sh*t.

These same people will happily pay a similar amount for a bottle of water that fell out of a mountain.

The mind boggling distance between us and the nearest star (other than the sun) combined with the simply unimaginable number of stars in our galaxy, the observable universe and beyond.

People who work hard purely to be able to buy pointless status symbols in order to show other people they work hard.
