Tensor calculus. I had a dalliance with this in the late 90s having completed an MSc and considering a PhD. I decided that unless I dedicated myself full-time (simply not possible at the time) this was beyond me and it has remained so.

I bought a watch with a bund strap recently and it was quite nice, but holes were too loose or too tight.

Without the bund the strap fits fine...

Cars advertised as "never driven in the rain". I am not really sure if anyone actually believes this in the first place, but also why does it matter? Was the car never washed with water then either? It would make way more sense to focus on it being properly dried and garaged.

And we'd have dinner money, to buy a dinner ticket. Not lunch money.
But kids who took sandwiches to school had lunch boxes. All very confusing.

    Aaw FFS! I had dinner-money and lunch-money!!!

I think 'lunch money' sneaked in while at secondary school - displacing 'dinner money' and 'playtime', as being a bit juvenile for us 'young adults'/

Thought you meant both at once to start with! ;)
I think it was called dinner right the way through school, but playtime became break time once we were in the 'big school'.

My neighbour who doesn't have a driveway so puts his bins out to block his space whenever he leaves the house.

It wouldn't be so annoying but they have two cars so while demanding he has a space outside his door he's more than happy to let his other car deny someone else of the same.

    Afters, sweet, desert or pudding?

    Napkin or serviette?

Unfortunately, the condition of many dedicated cycle paths and/or cycle lanes are not suitable for many road bikes. (TBF, the condition of many UK roads are barely suitable for road bikes as well).

    This might help clarify…

Cycle tracks are designed to be ridden at slower speeds than can be achieved on the road
Many, however, are not joined up and not always suitable for commuting to work, where using the road will be far quicker and more direct
Some on-road cycle lanes are too narrow and at times it may be safer for a cyclist to ride outside of the lane, especially alongside parked cars or if there are potholes
Drivers are still required to give cyclists the minimum passing distance whether a cycle lane is present
    As might this…

People who drive cars that are clearly not suitable for English roads or cities and I am pretty much talking about range rovers here.

Why spend do much on a car you are clearly struggling to drive down most city roads and can never fit into a parking space?

    In my world it is:

“afters” - generic term for the last course(s), covers all possible options including cheese
“dessert” - cold or ambient temperature dish like ice cream or Eton mess (but not cheese)
“pudding” - hot dish like apple crumble or treacle sponge (my favourite)

    And yes “napkin”

Running on tarmac feels better than the slabs of concrete.

Plus rubber pays to maintain the roads so should be allowed to use them

Why people don’t just drive on the pavement seeing as cycle lanes aren’t very nice for cyclists, pavements no good for joggers……

We have it occasionally but more likely to have jam roly poly or treacle sponge (as above)

Agreed, though I suspect the mixture of pot holes and speed bumps everywhere may be making off-road vehicles increasingly attractive.

We've only been here two months but I've seen it happen once. Incredibly selfish. They have space for a drive but won't pay to do one.

Neighbours with drive not always a good thing. Our neighbours have double one, we don't, so their visitors always park in front of our house so as not to block their drive (even though they know they won't need access).

Get some proper tyres then instead of those stupid narrow things! And while you’re at it some suspension…it’ll smooth out those bumps…

The people round were I live never have trouble parking their range rovers and large Chelsea tractors they just use 1.5 spaces instead of one especially in supermarkets and they never have any problem with road width they just take up 3/4 of the road and everyone else has to move out of their way

Dormer roofs. Why? Just spend a few quid more on a few more bricks and you will then have rooms with proper perpendicular walls. You can then use the whole room, can stand stuff against the walls and won't spend the rest of your life banging your head on the ******* slope. But no...let's do a half arsed job. Who wants to be able to stand upright in their own bedroom anyway? Crazy idea.
