I am very happy with Dubarry. I've had many Sebago, Timberland and Topsiders when I sailed a lot over 20 years ago. Dubarry is easily now in the league they were in then.

Intelligent traffic lights everywhere would be so easy to implement, hugely increase traffic flow and reduce harmful emissions. It could've been implemented YEARS ago... yet the Government seems completely disinterested, which given the profile of anything Green these days, seems totally bizarre.

A cynic might think that making sure the traffic system is as inefficient as possible, creating the maximum amount of jams and generating lots of traffic with the associated pollution might be a good way to raise tax.
Increase tax on the most polluted vehicles, Create low emission zones they actually want you to drive in so they can charge you. Create a congestion charge zone to charge drivers but again do nothing to actually reduce the need to use a vehicle etc.
Being seen to be green is important, raising taxes and increasing their power sphere is actually important.

And pedestrian crossings where you press the button and the lights don't change until there's no traffic anyway. If there was no traffic I wouldn't even bother pressing the button duh!

'Continental' style low level secondary traffic lights, and timers, would be so great. Absolutely no bloody chance of ever getting them.

Why my kids new £12 Timex analogue watch keeps better time than any of my watches! Bang on to the second after 1 month

Better alignment and bezel action than some too

I can understand why & how cheap quartz watches are so accurate.

The weird bit is why so many of us prefer to wear mechanical watches.

Or being able to turn left on a red light providing the road is clear.

They seem to do this everywhere else ( although right obviously).

That doesn’t mean to say that, logically, it’s still a bit weird though. 🤣

Don't start. Nothing winds me up more than opening the dishwasher and seeing my wife has clearly loaded it by throwing everything in from the other side of the kitchen while blindfolded.

Haha my wife is an intelligent person, yet seems convinced the laws of physics and fluid dynamics change in a dishwasher. Pans stacked on pans & suggests we need a new dishwasher as it doesn’t clean properly.

5/10, you would do well to read some of Gyp’s correspondence on the Dear Wife thread.

Can’t help it my OCD means I have to get this out….

People who use their cars and sometimes others as if they were a park bench ….why on earth do people sit on bonnets, wings or lean on rear quarter panels with their full weight transfered through their palms, those who put shopping bags on boot lids, briefcases on roofs, people who use cars as a clipboard and write on paper pushing pen into paintwork, stand on roofs at events to get a viewing advantage whilst scratching and denting roofs….don’t get me started on opening doors onto walls or other cars….arrrggghhhhh…

Phew and sorry all but I feel a tad better now….

My wife and kids like to watch a programme called Botched on the TV. I occasionally see this and am often horrified by the cosmetic 'improvements" made by women. Its seems that massive lips, huge back side and boobs the size of Jupiter's moon is in fashion. They pay literally thousands of pounds to look like a clown.

    Shocking!

I wonder what the general public will look like in 100 years.

Because some snowflakes are so bloody thick they will presume the programme was filmed last week and you don't say "bloody foreigner" which was the offending term in this day and age.

It’s especially ridiculous when you read the recent thread about failings of the justice system in serious cases.

And where it ends is with South Yorkshire Police (and probably others by now) tweeting (my emphasis):

“In addition to reporting hate crime, please report non-crime hate incidents, which can include things like offensive or insulting comments, online, in person or in writing. Hate will not be tolerated in South Yorkshire.”

They are probably just referring to reporting any "hate incident" Some may be an actual crime some are just recorded as hate incidents. Perhaps it could have been worded better because a member of the public may not necessarily know what would be a crime and what wouldn't

I’m quite happy to take them at their word. They could always suggest people report if they “believe” a crime may have been committed but they explicitly invite reports of things that aren’t crimes.

I tried to get the local Police to deal with a builder’s van that parked blocking a dropped kerb and safe crossing point on a busy road. It was there every day for about 3 weeks and no evidence that any action was taken. That was a genuine road safety concern and I was staggered at the indifference.

Down in London too. Last night I went for a swim in a lake 6 miles away, took me longer by car than it had taken me by cycle the previous night (same distance, different route).
