I have an overwhelming desire to visit Nebraska. I don't know why. I've been to the USA many times, but only to cities along the East and West coasts. Never been to the interior/heart of the USA.
So Nebraska, anybody been? Impressions or tips please.

Never been but I have been to a large number of interior states. You get to see the real US warts and all. I much prefer it to the coasts which are more cosmopolitan / modern US you see on the TV and in films.

^^^^^^^^I have to admit I hoped it was a Springsteen reference and was the first thing that came to mind.
Driven through it... not much to see to be honest, watch a film called 'children of the corn...should put you off wanting to go.
I’ve been to Minnesota many times over the past 15 years ( several times per year ).
Outside of the major cities there’s lots & lots farmland & small towns - like Mankato where we passed away the time with this lot…
(on the farm, not in the town).
Even the Minnesotans regard the Dakotas and Nebraska as flyover territory

Been there many times...my sister lives in Omaha. Except for Omaha and Lincoln (U. of Nebraska) it's mostly rolling farmland and plains. FYI: Nebraska is about 50% larger in area than England.

Thank for the responses all. I just want to see the wide open spaces (no, not the co-eds) and the weird nothingness. It looks strangely beautiful (again, not the co-eds).
Nebraska is home to the great Plains and cowboy country. Apparently it is one of the best places to live in the US. Don’t know how true that is. Featured in the mini series Lonesome Dove
Also been to the USA many times, never the interior of Nebraska, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Dakotas, Iowa and like the OP, have an urge to do so.
I think it was films many years ago like Last Picture Show, Badlands and Lonesome Dove that got me interested in the interior and later Napoleon Dynamite and the one where a chap drives across plains on a garden mower, can’t remember the name.
Just watching Lonesome Dove again after finishing the book. I guess the trail is a popular heritage route these days: Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska (Ogallala Nebraska, Clara’s ranch and where they hung Dee Boot), Wyoming and Montana. Robert Duvall is brilliant in it, a funny Colonel Kilgore in a cowboy outfit.

If you get bored of Nebraska, then Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota are next door states.
Not been to Nebraska, but have been to the latter 3 states many times and can highly recommend if you have done one or more of them.
The 2017 nonfiction book This Blessed Earth by Ted Genoways follows a Nebraska farm family over one year. The author's website with excerpts and photos is at https://www.tedgenoways.com/. I enjoyed reading the print edition a few years ago, but have been told that the audio edition is not very good. Anyway, if you are interested in reading about Nebraskan life, history, and culture, this title would be worth considering.
