The past 10mins is how we have played the whole tournament. Why they have not done this the last 75mins I don't know.

Yes but I was cooking pizzas at the same time ....

The whole tournament we have dictated the game pace and kept it round the back. We ain't done that tonight. As soon as we had the ball we were going hell for leather up front and losing possession straight away. Look at the stats. Stupid possession to Italy.

Started great but Italy were getting more and more into it as the half went on. Reminds me of Croatia 2018

FFS! Get Maguire, Sterling and Phillips off. Get Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski on.

It's remarkable what 2 good coaches can achieve in a fairly short amount of time.

Still not a penalty against Denmark so probably not.

Italy deserve to win this. England tactically timid.

Can't argue with the last part but at least we played a bit better in extra time.

Nobody should lose like this... Penalties are always a frickin lottery. Sorry fellows.

Can't argue with the result. Still a successful tournament, made the final.

    Well done Italy

I sort of knew that would happen, but - England went right through to the very end of the tournament unbeaten, and that's a real achievement in the context of the last few decades.

Silly pausing, waiting and stuttering runs instead of just picking your corner and hitting it hard and low…..

    Porchetta beats Gammon! :)

Wonder if the Italian fans will abuse and mock upset English children? Oh no they won't.

Got to question the sense in bringing on 2 guys who haven't touched the ball to take pens.

This England team are about as far from gammon as it gets. First time in many many years that I've felt proud to be English.

Watched a good tournament and some good football. We lost, it happens, there will be another tournament and that may change and we win it.

I am proud of my national team.

You on the other hand are just a sad sack, nothing will ever change that.

2nd half Italians were dominating the midfield and Southgate didn’t react.

11 goals to 2 for the whole tournament, pretty amazing! Just felt short against the best again.

Southgate tactically got it wrong in the 2nd half, you could see Italy gaining in confidence and keeping the ball more strangling the life out of our midfield/defence straight from the kick off. He should have brought on Grealish after 60mins and put Italy on the back foot instead of just inviting the non stop attack’s that eventually led to the equaliser. Very poor penalties from England all this prancing around before the strike, pick your spot and just put your laces thru it just like Maguire did. They’ll learn from this but having home advantage was a massive plus for us and we won’t have that luxury next time.

Yeah and the gammon fans booed their knee taking. And the Italian anthem. Enjoy the additional 'years of hurt'.

In that case I mostly agree. Some of the English fans have acted disgracefully.

    The Euros 2020

You have got to win it in normal time. Penalties is just a lottery.

It is not about the penalties. England with a home crowd and an early goal, were unfortunately just not good enough.

Very proud of the team, the squad and the manager. The two best teams in the tournament contested the final and it was very even, separated only by the lottery of penalties. I’ve not been this proud of our team since ‘90 and ‘96 so let’s keep this momentum in the WC which is only 17 months away.

    Well done lads.
