Replacement cartridges for taps

Hi

Need to replace a cartridge in the kitchen tap. Is there much difference between a part from the manufacturer compared to a compatible one?

There is quite a price difference and I’m not sure what the actual difference may be.

Just done this job on the bathroom tap. Found the genuine part on eBay for a decent price in the end. Can’t comment on generic aftermarket parts, but for something you’d used every day, the ‘saving’ might not be worth it.

Actually, just got a quote from the manufacturer and it wasn’t as bad as I had thought so I’ll get one from them.
We do use it everyday and it’s lasted well with the original parts so may as well replace like for like this time round.

I went with that thinking, it’s lasted 10 years so if I had the same again I’d be happy!
