What a fantastic thread. I don't have any decent pics to share and my geographical knowledge is relatively poor (although I recognised Brands Hatch and the Sistine Chapel) but that isn't stopping me from enjoying it.

Indeed. At the right hand side of the Latin Bridge is the corner where Archie Duke shot an ostrich 'cause he was hungry.

True, but he wouldn't have been heading that way then, so it wouldn't have happened!

It was certainly a different world back then...

The safety fence, though, certainly saved a lot of injuries (at least) in this case.

^^^ might not actually be F1 though I'm certain of where the 'photo was taken! Must be a big race as their appears to be a big screen in the background.

Easy to say it’s Petra in Jordan. The name/purpose of the building I had to look up, so wouldn’t be quite cricket to call it.

Edit. Could someone please send a screenshot of this to my wife? Seems I’m not too quick every time.

Half correct. It's not the building in the Indiana Jones movie, and wasn't that the Holy Grail one?

I thought it was but they built columns outside to make the building look even more grand (and to fall over in the last scene).
Either way fantastic site and we should get back to the game.

I'll admit that I deliberately didn't choose the obvious one. This is the most famous building as featured in Last Crusade, Al-Khazneh (The Treasury). The structure in my first image is a fair hike further in.

    Fair one.
I did google trying to find out which building it could be.

You obviously like a climb! We stopped at the bar tent opposite the facade that you can see in the photo and we really needed a drink by then!

We then carried on off to the left out into the desert and eventually were picked up in a couple of pick-up trucks to take us back to Petra.

Amazing place - In fact, Jordan, overall, was really enjoyable (except for the litter everywhere!)

Is the convention to post a picture?

If so, here's an easy one.

Ding dong. Almost immediately after taking this photo I received a 3 hour security briefing (it was my first trip to Libya after the civil war) which, as you can understand, was designed to scare the living daylights out of the recipient. I was awoken at 3 am by some herbert banging a drum yelling "Jihad" which had me carefully checking the contents and readiness of my grab bag. Turned out there was a football match the next day and the visitors were staying in my hotel - the performance was arranged to keep them awake and put them off their game.
