I think that might just be my Italian cousin - petèthegeek's little holiday earner?
(Very nice timepiece btw.)

Looks like Zugspitze to me.
Doesn't it?
We had the same spot in this thread, from another perspective, almost two years ago: here.

Lovely place and amazing views.

I think this should be fairly easy.
Yep, a bucket list item of mine, finally crossed off the list. We took the roundtrip, up with the cogwheel train to the glacier, then the Gletscherbahn to the summit. Fantastic views from the top, we had great visibility of the alps all the way to Switzerland (little less visibility to the North, on a good day one can even spot Munich at 100km distance). For the descent, we picked the new Zugspitze cable car. It covers an altitude of 2,000 meters, the cable is freely suspended for over 3,200 meters (!!) until its single support tower (also the world's highest at 127 meters).
It's truly breath-taking and I can only recommend.

We were there last year. We made the same round trip and enjoyed every moment.
I was tempted to go to the summit proper until I saw the chains and ropes!
My wife and I love that part of the world. Although we live on the coast there is something so majestic yet soothing about the mountains.
We're in the same area for our main summer holiday this year. Hiking and biking in the Alps is just so relaxing.
The twilight zone.

If it's where I think it is, then the last time I went was to go round the old warehouse temporarily holding the Robert Opie collection.
