Looks like a lily to me
Three of these spiky things appeared in my garden. My neighbour has one of those Plant ID apps : and it classes it as a Monkey Puzzle Tree - which I do not believe. Anyone have any idea what it is?

I agree, I think it is a lily too. The flowers will open into big displays.
Watch out for lily beetles - scarlet and oblong shaped. Their grubs love lily leaves, and their poo is unsightly. Fortunately the adult beetles are easy to spot on the plant, so you can dispose of them. Be careful though, because the beetles have a neat trick of letting go and falling straight down off the plant when they sense danger.
This may be of assistance. All sorts of search parameters.

Thanks - I suspected his app was wrong but I’ve no idea where they came from : I certainly didn’t plant them. So I’m looking forward to some lilies. That’s a cracking site resource.
You probably already know this, but just in case you don't, the Nasturtium on the right of the shot are very nice in salads. Quite peppery, much like Wild Rocket (the leaves that is).
The plant you are asking about may be a Blazing Star(?). Also known as Gay Feathers apparently!
