Investing in Copper (or other similar items)

The business I work in, means we need to be mindful of commodity prices.

Recently the business has been considering investing in copper or similar raw materials (i.e. hedging) to limit price variance in future.

Maybe the thread title is misleading, this is not investing, more hedging. But works similar to any other investment, hedge now and it could go south and cost you!

Copper prices are through the roof recently. Any views one way or other?

Every now and again metals enter a super cycle and trust me this time is one of them.
Copper is going crazy and only going up.
Electrification of vehicles and the infrastructure that's required is only going to make it go one way.
After Covid countries are investing in infrastructure and again this is why steel price is through the roof.
If you are in this game it's win win for the foreseeable future.

Maybe I should’ve kept the scrap electric cable I threw in a skip after rewiring my garage recently.

I think we got approx £5,300 a tonne for our brazier copper a few weeks ago.
Brass was approx £3,300 a tonne.

I recently got £80 for an old copper water tank that was in the loft, more than I was expecting.
