    Jaeger Le-Coultre Classic Large Duoface

Since buying a JLC Polaris Chrono, I've been really impressed with the build of JLC watches, so much so that I fancied another. As it's in its 90th year, I thought I'd go for a Reverso. The model and size to get was the next decision. In the end I went for the Classic Large Duoface as I thought it was the best size for my 7.5 inch wrist. I also went for the Classic style as I prefered the Guilloche engraving on the dials and the shape of the hands. The movement isn't hacking and is hand-wind but who cares, I certainly don't. In fact winding the watch is so smooth it's a joy, plus hearing the clicks is so satisfying. The Reverso has been on my mind for many years but I never made the commitment until recently.

It came on a black Alligator strap but I thought it was too formal so I ordered an Ostrich strap and love the look it now has. Incidentally, there are no tools required to change the strap, even on the deployant end. JLC have a wonderful system where all that's needed to release the clasp is the press of the underside.

    Deployant release.

    The original Alligator strap

    The alternative ostrich skin strap.

With the black face the hour hand and Day/Night indicator can be adjusted in one hour increments, whilst leaving the white face on the home time.

    The JLC collection.

A lovely watch and my favourite in that range. I came close to buying one a few years ago but held off buying new. My thinking at the time was it was a little too dressy for me. I love the additional straps you got.

    Thanks.

I do find I'm wearing it more and more on the ostrich strap. When you consider the Reverso started it's life as a sports watch for Polo players, it soon became a dressier watch. I'm exceptionally pleased with mine, no waiting list and a nice 10% discount to boot.

Beautiful watch, and it looks lovely on the ostrich strap. Four looks for the price of one - what's not to like?

Thanks Tony, however I did have to pay an extra £220 for the ostrich strap.

I’ve had one on a JLC in the past. Lovely things but certainly not inexpensive.

    Which dial is your favourite?

I mainly use it with the white dial, at night I occasionally use the black dial as it has some lume.

That's a beauty. Pure class, and the duo is the right way to go.

    A great pair of JLCs.

Great watches. I’ve got the Ultra Thin Duoface and love it to bits. Not seen the ostrich strap before- very tempting. I’ve also been tempted by the Casa Fagliano straps but these seem tricky to get hold of

I phoned the JLC boutique in London about the strap. It took a day for it to arrive from Switzerland. Great service.
