I think it's a little plastic weight that holds down a sheet of paper as it exits the machine after printing, there's usually one at each corner where the paper comes out..when I say weight it's more of a guide.

I have a relatively new laser printer, HP M255DW, like this:

Few days ago I had a paper jam, and after extracted the sheet causing troubles, closed the paper drawer and this part dropped:
I have no idea what this is, the printer seems to work well without it. But if anybody of you has experience of this printer, would like to now where it belongs in the printer.

Thanks, but those two are still in position. That part came from below, must be something in the paper handling.
Might it be a transit lock that you were meant to remove when unpacking the printer? There's often a diagram showing where they all are.
