Interesting (to me) seiko desk clock

Thought some of you may be interested in this desk clock - there are a few Seiko fans and a few aviation fans in our ranks :)

This came from a contact in Sussex .
The story is a little hazy from him as it’s a good few years old !
The gents colleague sold a car to a gent who , during discussions, revealed he was an ex civil pilot and had flown the B17 Sally B at a lot of air shows .
This is a pretty well known plane - its featured in a number of films - principally Memphis Belle and We’ll meet again .

It ticks away nicely and has the little commemorative plaque on the top which is a nice touch . I’m trying to get hold of some of his collected memorabilia to go along with it .

I like it in its own right, the back story, which I can’t prove I suppose, adds a bit of interest :)

These are great, there was thread on an identical watch a while back
This one has great provenance, I love the B17 and remember clambering over it as a kid at airshows.

I’ve had a few chats with people connected to the air show scene - one pilot has sent me a picture of the same clock- they were awarded as prizes to pilots and aircrews for ‘best in show’ etc
A likely name for the original owner has come forward but as he’s passed away some time ago I cannot be sure .

    Nice things aren’t they ?
Budget control doesn’t seem keen though - it’s not to her taste and it doesn’t fit the decor apparently 🤷*♂️😁
I look jealously at those of you with man caves …….

I have a different version made for Japan Air Lines (JAL).

The case is a bit rubbed about, I've had it for about ten years but unfortunately the quartz motor has conked out now.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

That’s cool - i don’t suppose the movement is common though - mines listed as ‘no jewels’

    Thanks.

I think the movement can be replaced with a generic quartz movement cheaply, I know Jason M has done it.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
