    16710/126710 trade

I’m thinking of a possible trade with My GMT rectangular dial for a 126710 (named the Batman if you’re into that!)
The selling prices look to be fairly close for it to be possible.
Mine has box but no papers but it has been to Rolex last year for an insert change and I have paperwork to support this.
I’m having a reshuffle of watches so it won’t be for sale, it would only be a straight trade if it was possible.
    Am I in the ballpark?

Definitely within the trade bracket, but I don’t think I would make that swap myself. The 5 digit case wears a lot slimmer on the wrist, and feels a lot more like a tool watch. The versatility of having 3 bezel and 2 bracelet options are unparalleled. I thought I grew tired of mine but slapped on a jubilee and it feels like a different watch.

The BLNR is a beauty though. Looking at picking one up myself. I think they can definitely co-exist if funds allowed.

Don’t think you are near a straight swap given yours is without original papers. I wouldn’t even do the swap if I were you.
In fact, I’m considering a swap the other way from you.

I'll buck the trend and say that I went in the same direction as you. I think the 5 digit crown is small and fiddly and also feel that the 6 digit is far more of a tool watch (whatever that actually means to us desk and sofa divers, of course).

Anyway, not a silly thing to do IMO,but just a matter of taste. Oh, and of sensible valuations.

Thanks for the replies so far, a mixed response.
It all depends on who wants to trade and if they’re keen to move on a piece to try something new.
It’s only worth what someone will pay I guess.

I have both and only wear one of them but can see the appeal.

I think I see a potential solution here...

You'd be needing to add funds IMO.

Personally I would much rather have the 5 digit. I would think that the 6 digit would currently be valued a little higher, but long term I wouldn't expect that to be the case.

HaHa, but no. Would need to be with papers and completely unpolished or NOS to tempt me.

    What else would tempt you?
You never know,I may have something…
I’m getting a bit bored with my current watches, I need some movers and shakers

It’s gone already but wouldn’t have been for me at £19k anyway. Straight swap at most.

    A straight swap at £19k?

I mean I think it was overpriced. Maybe private seller would have done a swap but a private-dealer trade doesn’t usually stack up for the little guy.

What do I know though, it has sold.

Maybe. As I said already, it’s worth what someone will pay.
It doesn’t hurt the perceived value of mine tho…

I would never, ever make that trade. Batman does absolutely nothing for me.

5-digits are the next 4-digits. Don't trade them.

I’ve got a 16710, and have had it for a little over a year - I really wanted a ceramic Pepsi, but we all know those stories. After meeting a seller locally (remember those day?!) I was blown away by how comfortable it was and had to have it. Factor in the second bezel, which is great to swap for a change.

A good friend of mine has a Batman, and I’ve compared them a few times. Each time I come to the conclusion that I’m glad I didn’t go the ceramic route - it’s a beauty, but it’s a totally different watch IMO. Of course this is my opinion - he wouldn’t swap with me as he has the opposite opinion - it would be boring if we all had the same opinions wouldn’t it. Good luck with whatever you decide.
