    CWC diver dial

I'm a huge fan of the 1980 dial; plain text 'CWC', bigger face etc, but this looks to be a sort of 1983 hybrid, with plain text CWC, but also 'Swiss Made' forcing the 1mm perimeter dial-shrink.
    Wondering what it is?

Looks like an 81 issued watch but I thought the numbers where printed white and not lumed on these.
About 100 were issued in 81.

    I would have said 80 or 81.

Seems not to match any description (CWC addict):

1980*– Manufactured by Dodane France. Dial signed with small CWC logo and small circled T below the hands; no SWISS or SWISS MADE; luminous indices and 3, 6 and 9 numerals; and an acrylic bezel insert. *Fitted with an ETA 2783 automatic movement. *Approximately 100 watches were issued in this year.

1981*– Case switches to an M.R.P. SA case. Dial signed with slightly larger CWC logo with medium circled T below the hands; SWISS MADE below the 6 index; luminous indices but 3, 6 and 9 numerals now just printed in white. *Fitted with an ETA 2872 automatic movement. *Approximately 100 watches were issued in this year.

1982*– It is unclear whether this was issued in a batch, was just a few prototypes or were made up from parts, as not many have been seen so far. *The logo is the new CWC logo in an oval (dating the watch to 1982), and the dial is similar to the 1983 CWC Quartz dial but without the Quartz marking.

There's a guy on e-bay selling one that matches the '82 description for £10k odd.

What's the story on this one, is it yours or one you have stumbled upon for sale and are looking for more info.

Could this be one of those but with 'aftermarket' lume applied on top?
    Cheers..

Is there another watch out there with more variations in circulation? I reckon this could be a specialist subject on Mastermind?!

That’s one of the joys of CWCs and other military watches for me. You have to hunt info down and do your research.
Anyone with enough cash can go and buy an Omega or Rolex etc. from a shop without really thinking about it. With these you have to swat up. I am far from an expert but do have an unhealthy fascination with them.

Re the lumed numbers I think you may be correct Jason. It’s also not unthinkable for there to be dial variations even with so few made. But I would guess it was done in an effort by someone to match the 80s
