Have you found an interesting YT channel lately?

We have this sort of threads about books, about films and TV series. We have discussed the Binky Project (Magirus is often the one who posts a heads-up). But what about a thread regarding interesting YT channels

Perhaps a quick summary of what you've found and a link to the channel's page?

I'll start: Scott Brown Carpentry. Guy in Auckland who owns and runs a carpentry business. Renovations, extensions etc. Tons of info; 'how to' and about hand tools. New vid 1x/week.

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_J...517dKdMb3n2OrQ

Second: Life Uncontained. US couple living in Texas, building their home from shipping containers. True amateurs with -at the start- more perseverance than skills, developing themselves into skilled professionals. New vid 1x/week.

My Self Reliance. Shawn James is starting over again building a log cabin and a whole homestead after having problems with a crazy neighbour. His work rate, tenacity and skills are remarkable. Stunning Canadian scenery is a bonus.

Acorn to Arabella. Two American lads building a wooden boat, sounds simple. No, far from it. Watch it from the beginning, you won't be disappointed, and like me you'll learn what makes a boat.

1 Bike 1 World: A Scottish chap cycling round the world found a kitten at the side of the road in the early part of his travels, the kitten adopts him and now they travel together. Normally a video per week but covid has curtailed it but seems to be coming back on line and plenty of back videos

Two videos from Paul Sellers, a lifelong woodworker, and woodworking educator who has made furniture for US Presidents and has posted a broad range of fascinating You Tube films on all aspects of woodworking tools and furniture making.

Paul has a super relaxed style and his videos are simply a masterclass. Start with "how to make a workbench" and be totally impressed by how he makes a rebate plane, from a block of wood and an old chisel to the finished plane taking perfect shavings; all pretty much in real time and using simple hand tools instead of a workshop full of machinery.

If you're more interested in joinery and building skills then try Robin Clevit's scarf joint video; Robin is a brilliant communicator and a very skilful joiner and roofer:

Probably not to many/any one else's tastes, but i'm loving everything about (mostly) Russian metal band 'Slaughter to Prevail' and their lead singer 'Alex Terrible' at the moment

I'm more into 90's metal and rock, so it's rare for a new band to get my attention, but stumbled on these guys a while back.

Their song 'Demolisher' is seriously intense. Caution, bit sweary.

The drum playthrough of the song is good too, that guy can hit things
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clG9RbvapaI

The lead singers super low vocals are crazy, i assumed fake/autotuned or whatever, but these early videos show he can get that low

Steve1989 - consumes and reviews MREs. His WWII and Vietnam War stuff is my fave but he does modern ones too. He even sampled some Boer War era beef and a Civil War cracker too...

RMC/Mark Fixes Stuff - Retro computing

Big Clive - electronics, tear downs, reverse engineering circuits plus loads of other stuff like re-distilling cheap booze.

Four which I try and catch every day/week:

Erik Anders Lang's, Random Golf Club/Adventures in Golf....as a film producer in his own right, the production is head and shoulders above any other golf channel I've come across.

Bald and Bankrupt....the chap travels solo, predominantly to the old Soviet Union but also, Mexico, India and currently Ethiopia.

The History Guy, "short snippets of history, 5 to 10 minutes long which deserve to be remembered" A masterclass in delivering lesser known historical events in an informative and entertaining manner.

Mark Felton on either of his two channels, another brilliant historical presenter.

Already mentioned but +1 for Bald and Bankrupt. Also, the Daily Bald by the same person: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxD...Fvn0FDHT6kmoXA and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB2...y3VBksSD58NvhQ

Also, I know a lot of people are interested in guns, Ian McCollum's excellent Forgotten Weapons is unusual in that it focuses on the history and technology of guns, without straying into politics or the 'EDC' kind of territory and he really knows his stuff.

    https://www.youtube.com/c/ForgottenWeapons

He posts a video 6 out of 7 days, usually 10-20 minutes long and I find myself watching it every day!

I also wait with bated breath for the IMSA channel's full race coverage videos.

Yep, that was one of my picks. I'm in the clean plate club! Been tempted to order a few Lithuanian MREs after his last video where he actually tests it in the wild.

Great thread - seen a few above which I shall peruse!

As well as Tod's Workshop and Forgotten Weapons, I enjoy Nicholas Moran's channel, a.k.a. "The Chieftain". He's an Irishman who moved to the US and joined the Army as a tankie - his channel includes Q&As, "trad" lectures on armoured design, tactics and doctrine - but the core is the "inside the hatch" videos, in which he crawls all over various armoured vehicles of all eras, talking through their design, issues, interesting features and so on. Hardcore geekery, no doubt, but some on here may find it of interest...

The Rebuilding of Tally Ho a wooden yacht that won the Fastnet race in 1927

This young bloke Luke took it on and in Episode One I thought he has no idea what a job he has on hands, this will be a laugh until it grinds to a halt.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Amazing series of videos.

Better than a lot of stuff on TV.

+1 on Ozzy Man. Top quality content.

Been watching lots of travel channels for a while. The Endless Adventure and Sailing La Vagabond are classics.

Keef cooks is an entertaining cooking channel if you fancy watching an older Yorkshire man make British classics.
