I think you'll find that part of the sheath of the springbar is still in the strap.
If it isn't, I've never seen a springbar like that before.

Well there you go! Who would have thunk it.
Anyway, some seiko spring bars later, and the roughest old admiralty grey NATO I have, and we are good to go.
Need to get some bars that slightly better fit the lug holes for diameter (there is a little play in these) but it will do for now.
