Hamilton "Sub-660ft"? Put me out of my misery....

    Right, help me out.

I've just had a rummage through my spares stuff and found this Hamilton I'd forgotten all about.

    Hamilton Sub-660ft, quartz.
I had assumed this was a fake watch to be honest. I don't recognise it, the logo on the back looks weird, I'd written it off.

    BUT...
It's a nice steel case, unidirectional bezel, screw down crown etc.
I've opened it up and it's a well made piece, even had the ETA 955.122 quartz movement.

What do I do? Break it for spares, or am I ok to sell it? I've found a few others online - mainly Japanese sale sites - but I really can't work out if it's genuine.

Rare a watch stumps me so please help me out - is it an outright fake or just an old model???

Be brutal, if it's fake I'll just pull it to bits and flog the movement.

I would say that’s a genuine Hamilton from the 90s
They used this typeface on their watches for a while along with the Hamilton ‘family’ crest.
I would try to get it working or sell as spares or repair.

Hamilton had lost their way in the 80/90s and there are more than a few oddities out there.

It's working fine, just put a new Renata in it and it's batting away.
Cheers, that's sounding positive. I bought it with a few other pieces in auction, everything else I picked up was right - this one just left me with a question mark over it for some reason.

There's a similar one on Yahoo Auctions (https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j702909507) which has the same case back. It is just described as "Hamilton, 90s era"

Absolutely genuine, no doubt about it.
Hamilton did a whole load of different Lemania 5100-powered watches is a very similar case design, some with that exact bezel on.
Many of those models had the same gold bezel inside the rotating bezel.
Here is a picture of one I used as a donor for its movement. the bos had the same crest on the front.

You may be glad to know this burgundy monstrosity is no longer.

The case and movement used with a nicer dial and hand set could be quite a nice watch. Obviously the strap needs to go

I had no idea Hamilton went through this period. Every day a school day.

Hope it gets you a few beers, OP!
