Thread: Show your Breitling

    Show your Breitling

After me falling out of love with the Breitling I’ve now found my passion for them again. Can’t seem to find a show thread so I’d thought I would try and ignite everyone’s passion again.

Looks great! It was a SC post for a Night Mission that led to me trying to find a suitable canvas strap for my old Avantage - managed to track this one down and it's given the watch a new lease of life for the summer

Great watch. Absolutely love the Night Mission Aerospace... hands down the best variant of the model for me. You take a good picture.

The more ‘instruments’ or ‘tools’ the Breitling is, the better it looks to me. My all time favourite Breitling is the Blackbird from 2004. I’ve never owned one, I would like to, all that followed it with that subdued finish have appealed to me on one level or another.

Old style SteelFish was extremely popular watch back in the day. I wonder why they discontinued it. I thought it was a good seller.

While the successor (ref A17392D8.C910.211S) was a nice watch somehow I always felt it was a huge downgrade. The dial was less interesting... I like the concentric circles on the old version.

I think this was my first purchase in 1997-ish since buying a GMT-Master in '81.............

Great for world travel and so light (75gm?), but titanium bracelet marks quite easily.

My only one, but a great way of diversifying a mechanical watch collection.

    Still love it

Over the years i have always had a bit of a soft spot for Breitlings, my first was a hand winding Top Time for my 21st unfortunately i sold it broken long before i realised its true worth.

My second was a Superocean which was around the time i joined here.

This i traded with a member on here for my third a Chronomat.

and then i traded that for my fourth and current an Avenger Seawolf II.

I do have a urge for a B1 powered Chrono or even possibly a Navitimer but that will have to wait.

A bit of an oldie from me.

I don’t currently have one but a Breitling was my first expensive watch purchase... my gateway if you will. Not my picture but was this

    I’ve also had this

    And this

I always fancied a Headwind and a Steelfish.

One of my better posts. Two arses for the price of one.

I appear within that issue of Mayfair; my cronies always say that they have never seen so many tits on one page.

Apolpogies for dragging this thread down to my level.

Actually, The Breitling Appreciation Thread runs to 26 pages, so is a bit hard to miss!

However, since I'm here I'll play...

I'm a big Breitling fan, having owned 5 of which three remain in my collection.

The first was this Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish X-Plus, which was my first £1k-plus watch purchase. A shame that it turned out to be a fake...

Next was a Skyland Avenger, bought from a forum member via Sales Corner, which is still with me.

The third was my yellow dial Avenger Seawolf II, also bought through this forum and also still in my watch box.

No. 4 was this Navitimer World, bought new from a dealer in Italy and again, a permanent fixture for me.

The final Breitling I bought turned out to be the only one I didn't enjoy. The Aerospace Avantage is something of a forum darling and when I saw this one advertised by an Austrian dealer on Chrono24 I felt I had to have it. Unfortunately for me the reality just didn't match up to the hype, so it went.

Miss this one, was a great one watch other than the WR, but didn’t fit well into a rotation with the fiddly date. First world problem!

Love the yellow seawolf photos every time they crop up - then google the thickness..

Going somewhat off topic, but I have a bit of a collection of gentleman's relaxation pamphlets from the 60's and 70's, and I have to say that they are about as erotic as an average knitting pattern. If I'd not looked through them I'd not believe it, but having done so I'd be a lot more convinced by someone that said they'd bought them for the motoring content than someone that claims they bought them for the titillation.

Back on topic, does anyone have a Cosmonaute? I've always fancied a 24 hour dial.

I always said that a Cosmonaut would be my end game, it’s a watch I have wanted since I was a kid.
I bought the Sinn version from SC earlier this year and whilst it has scratched the cosmonaut itch, it has not cured me of this illness.

Trivial to do so yourself if you feel inclined, I seldom open up any of my dive watches for obvious reasons but the Aerospace is a straightforward affair and has no pretensions about being massively waterproof

I'd certainly advise against sensing it to Breitling as, if they've not seen it for a while, they will insist that they can only change the battery as part of a full service.

I've got a set of Breitling back removal tools if required!
