This video should explain, pretty straight forward once you've seen how to remove them!

Thanks, I've done it. Embarrassingly simple actually. Oh well, lets' hope this thread helps others.

I too had to look at that video, when I first encountered them. I don't like them and don't trust them, although realistically the chances of something catching the exposed bolt and then releasing them, must be vanishingly small.

IME, not all straps have the flexibility to do as shown in the Watch Gecko vid, in which case the little lever can simply be pulled-out with a small set of pliers or artery-forceps, IME they pop out without much force, then the remainder of the springbar can be slid out, binned, and replaced with a normal one.

It’s ok. It needs a small forked spring bar tool to release it - just easier to reach and less likely to scratch the case.

I recently bought a leather Hirsch Ranger for my Newmark 52 and was surprised to see it came with this style of springbar. They seem to be fitted to lots of straps as standard now - they look a bit insecure but in reality I suspect they are fine. Not really got to test it out as my gorilla wrists mean the strap barely fits, I’ll never learn!
