It looks similar to a Timex Southampton lever or slide-button chronograph from the late 50s.

The Timex Southampton has an unusual slider button above the crown, and this watch appears to have a sliding button on the case opposite of the crown.
But again, I am just guessing. Maybe someone with BMW expertise has better ideas?
