    Finally!! Matte dial 666

After many years of wanting a 16660 Matte dial the searching finally paid off. As many know I absolutely love the 16600 and have owned every different variant over the years, but my perfect Sea Dweller has always been a matte dial 666 and I finally managed to get my hands on an exceptional one
Perfect dial and hands with original open 6/9 date wheel and correct matching bracelet and clasp, also the correct box..

That's superb! Well done - they are rare beasts especially with that matt dial. I let go a lovely 666 with silver applied markers - a super example complete with sale particulars from Anticorum (sp). Stupidly let it go - I feel an imcling to get a 16600 at some point (so it has lume)

Congratulations and well done for tracking down your personal grail.

I’ve still got my 16600 Swiss dial Model 2000 with drilled lugs holes. That I got 10years ago.
Not sure I would sell it.

A few nice 666s on here but not sure many are matte dials.

    Nice Mike!!

Glad you landed a good one. I remember you saying it was very much on your radar when you helped me find my dream 16800.

    Good work.

I'd recommend deleting the serial number pic - the internet is preyed upon by ne'er do wells.

Contrats lovely watch. I still prefer the 1665 though.

Managed to find a much nicer blue’d insert with a faded pip, suits it much better.

Looks like fine condition for a watch in this rare, original format.

You may be interested to know that for a while the 16660 was sold alongside the last of the 1665s. See the explicit, final lines of this dealer literature :

Obviously couldn't sell the remaining stock of Great Whites !

    That’s great!

But maybe don’t wear it on exercise... I managed to put a LR gearstick through the face of a much-loved vintage Seiko of mine when somewhere in the balkans

Thanks Haywood, plan is to get it serviced ASAP and the bracelet off to Michael Young to be sorted, then just need to chase down the correct booklets and anchor for it.

A small update on this, it’s currently away with Sean Yates having a full service, a few new parts (including NOS helium escape valve) in order to make it full wearable! The bracelet is also away with Seth getting restored.

That's lovely - where did you source it?

In hindsight I should probably have kept hold of this "stardust"

Hi Tony, hope you are well?

I actually got it from eBay, I had been after one for ages and had this one in my watch list for 6-8 months!!

The photos were rubbish but I ended up moving pretty close to the seller and one day decided to message him for a viewing, I went to his house and it was so much better in person than the photos depicted, I made a pretty cheeky offer based on the fact it had been advertised for so long and he accepted!

He was a really interesting guy, I want to say he was Italian and had been a builder his whole life. We ended up chatting about watches for a while and he said “while you are here I will show you my collection”….. off he goes to the safe and starts bringing out incredible watch after incredible watch!!

2 Military issue Omega 300’s, super early Speedmasters, some Pateks, loads of various Rolexs, it was ridiculous!!

    Looks cracking!

If you have sent the bracelet to Seth, be prepared to wear the watch on a NATO until about next xmas.....
