Thread: Anyone recognize this flying insect ?

Anyone recognize this flying insect ?

I captured this on our outside nature camera flying really fast, really poor photo but any ideas as to what it is ? it looks to have six legs/wings.

    Thanks

Think more likely a multiple exposure than 6 wings TBH.

It took this shot off of the video so not multiple exposure, I don't think slow worm, this was in the air and flying quite fast

I think it's the Cambridge boat crew, training at night. Infra-red satellite photo, probably.

A video frame on CCTV (or most things really) isn't a single frame these days though, it's a rolling shutter. This can make things look very odd under the right circumstances.

Great video here on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNVtMmLlnoE

That's brilliant! Do some insects mate when flying - perhaps a triple stack?

Honey bees mate in flight - over one or two days. Queen bee mates with about 40 guys (who all die after). Then she lays eggs for up to 3years after that. Keeps the stuff in her body for use later.
