Thread: Car insurance

    Car insurance

I know we have quite a few petrolheads on here, so I'm wondering if anyone can help with a recommendation. I need a multi-car policy and generally have one or two sports cars, a classic and a family runaround at any given time (and I flip my cars almost as often as I used to flip watches). I have been using Lancaster, but I'm very unhappy with them/their underlying insurer at the moment.

I can obviously have a hunt on Google, but it can be a total minefield and I need to move quite quickly on this.

    Thanks in advance.

Try Greenlight. They’re ace for sports cars and those with mods. Think they can do multi car too

Try NFU, very comprehensive policy and no charges when you make changes mid term.

I use Aplan in thetcham, I have two heavily modified sports cars, and two relatively expensive cars all on the same policy with Markerstudy.

Try Cornmarket (in Belfast) - they have an underwriter (Ageas) who do heavily modd'd bikes - could well offer a competitive policy for cars too?

Yup - A-Plan, my 3 are with them, they seem to offer a personal service - thatchcam branch specialise in modified/performance stuff. They like you to be a member of a club and check your car history. Never claimed though - which is the ultimate test of insurance!

    Car insurance

I used to have a trade policy for a few years. let’s you drive anything and keep x many cars
    I was always changing cars
A bit like some with watches
You don’t need to be a trader as such

Admiral for me. They came in with a ridiculous quote for me this year. Approximately £650 all in to cover an XFR and V12 Vantage. Also used Classic Line in the past. Very good for limited mileage policies and they cover more cars as "classics" than you may think.

Why? What bad experience have you had? I use them, admittedly for a car nowhere near the value I see you have, but never had an issue.

Aviva do for us, 2 sporty cars and a SUV. Had a car pinched a couple of months ago and got paid up in three weeks.

GL are local to me so I used them, MOT tester made a mistake on the certificate, it looked like the car had lost 100 miles, even though he wrote to them explaining what had happened, they accused me of attempting to defraud the insurance company and cancelled the policy. All they would say is that it was their policy, with an attitude like that anyone who deals with them is asking fir problems.

A friend of mine who has a long list of exotic cars was with NFU, out of curiosity he did an online enquiry with Admiral, they were £4k cheaper , he’s surprised the would insure all of his cars with no issues,
