    Speedmaster 57

More of a question about love

I love mine it's fairly bulky and sits a little high but is domed so I gey by.

I never see any on forums not just here but anywhere really.

Do I need to get out more or are they the not so popular relation....

Well I have what Omega called a "Speedmaster '57 Replica" and I've posted pics a few times. There's a Speedmaster thread somewhere and I'm sure you'll see a few pics of them there. But they aren't as popular as the classic Moonwatch variant.

I get totally confused over Omega model names. Is this the model you mean?

If so, had one about a year ago. Liked it, maybe a bit thick and a bit shiny on the polished bracelet which is why I tended to wear it on a strap.

In the end I flipped it and now have a Speedmaster Mark 2.

I have always loved the look of these and considered getting one, I didn’t realise they were quite a bit thicker than the moonwatch.

Aside from the moonwatch being the “Iconic” are they not also a couple of grand more? Perhaps that has been another reason as until recently the moonwatch was quite a reasonably priced chronograph.

I also love my trilogy 57.

I saw a pic on Instagram of the watch on a beads of rice bracelet, I think it looks great, need to find out where to get one from.

Uncle Seiko and Forstner stock the beads of rice bracelet. Great reviews for both it seems.

Yes, the '57 that I had was pretty expensive at RRP...Omega seemed to hike the prices of them to align them with models like the DSOM. Pre-owned prices were pretty good though. I bought and sold mine for around £3500.

The reason I went for that model over the Trilogy 57 was that I could get a Trilogy vintage look with a date.

Looks amazing Alec, miss mine... the watch looks awesome on straps as well, as well as an uncle seiko / fostner flat link bracelet if you fancy giving that a try!

All three of those Trilogy pieces (the Seamaster, Speedmaster and Railmaster) are superb. As close to a vintage feel as you'll ever get without going vintage.

Ernest Jones are selling them at the moment for around £5.5k when you factor in the additional 15% off the sale price. Tempting.
