Thread: Rolex sea Dweller (from 2004] service cost?

Rolex sea Dweller (from 2004] service cost?

I bought a Sea Dweller from new in 2004 and have not really worn it over the last decade or so.
I’m thinking of resurrecting it starting with a service from Rolex.
Considering it is is excellent condition (no chips to crystal or scratches to bezel insert) would anyone be able to advise a likely service cost? Thanks

I paid around £600 but that was without polishing and just an ultrasonic clean for the bracelet.

Thanks, mine would be much the same.
I didn't realise the case re finish was extra but rather part of a fixed cost.

I believe you are correct unless Rolex have changed their charges for servicing.
There was no additional charge by Rolex to refinish mine when serviced in 2018.

Was yours in the same ball park of £600 price wise?

Good to hear - I was expecting a higher cost.

It will be more that that.
I gave the go ahead on a standard service for my Submariner last week (service, crystal and crown) which will cost £743.70. The Sea Dweller will be more.

I paid £550 3 years ago through a Rolex AD for my 16600 service, I'd be surprised if it was more than £700 now. Mine passed the service with no additional costs after 10 years of regular wear, and I don't baby mine.

What was the cost of each component of that work? I’m guessing the Crystal would be £100 but surely only needed if there was damage? Similarly the crown?

It’s serious money if you have one Rolex. If you have a collection then crazy money!

Apart from getting the seals checked if it’s going to get wet, I wouldn’t bother. And that was before I saw the figures other posters have quoted!!

I’ve always had an estimate to have the crystal and crown replaced when serviced.
Yes, it would be crazy money to have them all serviced, especially if it’s the Heritage department!

That was pretty much my experience, servicing my 2009 watch in 2018, I think. I to was surprised to see the number up at the £700 mark! (I'd still pay it - you'll probably get most of that back on sale.)

That would be a useful bit of data with the addition of the year when the service was carried out!

Presumably I can just hand it in to my local Goldsmiths branch who will send it to Rolex?

Yes. They may add on £35 as a handling fee but it's worth it for the insurance I think.

I guess it depends on what work needs doing?

    Absolutely.
I’ve never had a service on a Submariner or SD (approx 8 watches) where the estimate hasn’t included a new crystal or crown.
The OP asked the service price for a SD which will be more than the price I posted.
They may even want to supply a new case…

I hope not, the watch is pretty much as new. The crystal, bezel, case etc are pristine.

Is the case on his SD damaged then?

No, the case is immaculate (like the rest of the watch)
