My friend has one, for the price they are a bargain. Think it’s the same size as the original BGE Mini before it was discontinued.
Fine for a couple of burgers or chicken breasts. Will struggle with ribs & more than a kilo or so of pork butt I’d imagine

Hardest part will be finding one - they went out of stock online minutes after launch, again!

I popped into Lidl today and there weren’t any. But they’re selling some excellent accessories for a fiver each; kebab holders, pans etc
I bought one a couple of years back to experiment with before spending a LOT more on a Kamado joe, glad I did but the little one gets very limited use unless just cooking a couple of steaks.

Was in there today and found a cordless chainsaw. Madness!
Left with some organic wine and some mince filled potato balls. Wish me luck.
It looks alright to me tbh. It's really for ease the big one eats a third of a bag of coal it feels like to get the heat up.
Went to lidl and they still had 2 so got one so well see next day off I have....
Any good tips or recipes at all...

Excellent, well done! Agree on charcoal, my XL holds so much, it doesn’t burn it, but to fill it up swallows a load.
My friend found his a little leaky, so used BGE gasket tape to seal it properly and works a dream.
If you can get hold of a cast iron grill & small skillet you’re sorted for everything.
Have a look at Adam Perry Lang for some great bbq recipes, also amazingribs.com for some low & slow / sauces & rub as well as techniques. BGE website has a load of recipes too.
Hardest part I found was the bottom of my bag of charcoal was full of some of the largest lumps I’ve ever seen, far too big for the fire bowl.
Oh and calibrate / check the thermometer before you start!

Can I just check the BBC you are referring to is the 'Grillmeister Kettle Barbecue' currently £24.99 on the Lidl website?
I think they are talking about this:

Don't think I am allowed a third ceramic grill, especially as want to upgrade the gas soon too.
Forgot to add for the first cook do about 180C, or empty to get used to temp control - gives the gasket adhesive some curing ability.
Then you can crank it right up for the sears of dreams!
Just to enlighten the uninitiated, moi, what do these give you over a conventional webber bbq and what are the main benefits?

Can cook for very long times, at a lower temp, or really hot & maintain moisture. They are also charcoal misers & use very little in the process as so efficient.
The Weber will be losing lots of heat out from all over & get through much more fuel. Also so much easier to cook at a controlled temp, cooking is done lid down to control temp, maximise flavours etc

Lol can't wait to try.
I'm off work on Tuesday so might burn some stuff then.
Think though on this adventure youtube is my friend.
On the gasket glue bit does anyone have a link to the right stuff please.
There are some great groups on Facebook for smoking I could eat the pictures which to be fair most likely taste better than my cooking.

Sorry i was being misleading I thought you bought a gasket paste like a fire cement for a lof burner etc
I will google sticky ones for small bbq instead thanks

It’s a roll of sticky backed felt, really easy to apply. The difficult bit is getting the old gasket off, but it’s not that hard, just time consuming
If the bbq has not been used lots, I would imagine the gasket is even easier to remove.
Give it a try as it comes first, you may be pleasantly surprised, and there are a lot of BGE owners with completely shot gaskets still able to maintain a temperature.
My egg is 5 years old, used probably every fortnight & still going strong. It is the hotter cooks that cause it, and the XL is mainly used for lower smokes.
Cannot remember if it has been mentioned, but make sure you burp the egg before opening up on hot cooks, the rush of oxygen as you open can cause fireball flashbacks.... http://www.nakedwhiz.com/flash.htm
