I think I've found The One!

Since I sold my Omega 2264.50 ten years ago I've been searching for 'that' diver on a bracelet. I must have gone through in excess of a hundred watches which have always had something about them that made me flip. For those who don't know me, some would say I'm a bit of a flipper.

Anyway, this arrived today and I knew as soon as I opened the box it had the potential to be The One.

I won't waffle on about the spec as we all know how to find that, I'll just leave it here with some pics.

Oh and a shout out to Serious Watches - it was delivered from Holland just 24 hours after placing the order.

It’s a very nice piece but for a serial flipper, could those be famous last words? Having said that, I’m similarly minded as the Sharkmaster 1000 I bought from this very forum has been worn every day since it arrived, six weeks ago. That is a first for a new arrival.

May I ask what it is that makes you think of it as highly as you do? On a side note, I love the order of the pics in a reverse reveal whereby you've seemingly put the watch back in the box and wrapped it up rather professionally.

Agh I know, I hate the way Postimage places them randomly!

The quality is simply outstanding. I love the maxi-Sub style case, ceramic insert, the faux lume dial and domed crystal that gives a lovely distortion at certain angles. The dimensions are also perfect for my particular wrist. The bracelet is really good quality with easily adjusted screwed links, a flip-locking clasp and no sharp edges whatsoever.

As a whole piece it's just stunning.

You have certainly had a few but it is all part of the enjoyment of the hobby.

Think even as a flipper there is sometimes a different feeling that you experience with particular watches and you just know it will be with you for a longer period of time. Fingers crossed for you that it is indeed a mainstay in your collection. Looks great.

My Armida? Not happening I'm afraid. I have three watches and love them all.

IIRC Rolex is (or was) your grail, so I'm not surprised you've gone for a homage. I doubt this will cure your flipperitis, but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong.

Actually no, a Rolex isn't a grail of mine.

That's just silly, it would be worth putting it in a drawer and forgetting about it for a grand in 14 days time.

Best thing you can do is to stay away from the internet. The simple truth is that you are forever chopping and changing and you can resist anything except temptation.

So just keep it and don't bloody sell it. I still have an Omega I bought in 1986 and if I can do it, so can you.

Also stop buying all this cheap tat you keep selling in the SC, it's only keeping you in the buy/sell frame of mind. You need to cut it out completely.

It's more addictive than heroin I tell you. Just one more sale then I'll stop - honestly

Quite funny to buy it from Serious Watches and then start a thread with some Serious BS ;)

Lovely watch, can see why you like it so much.

Seriously - it is a sign of weakness. Doing it is fine if there are no regrets. But doing it in the full knowledge that you know it was a stupid thing to do the day after is just plain gormless. Am I right or am I right.

Better still, don't buy the homage, buy the genuine article. There's plenty around.

I know that, it wasn’t me who spouted off about being “willing to bet on it”. All mouth as usual.

My mistake, I misread your earlier post from the Rolex Release thread.

Anyway, nice watch minus the drama.
If you manage to hold on to it, more power to you.
Ocean X do make some seriously nice homages.
    I have a few I enjoy quite a bit.

In my experience there’s no such thing as ‘the one’. It’s usually ‘the most recent one’ which is the main reason I moved from the ‘expensive’ tier to the ‘cheaper’ tier. Makes the flipping feel a bit less silly!

It looks like a decent watch David, but let's not kid ourselves, there isn't a cat in hell's chance of that being 'the one'.

Serious question - What is your grail, if you have one?

Not a specific model but but my grail brand is Panerai. I'd love a 1950 of some description but equally I'd love to buy one from the current range. One day I'll have a stroll into Berry's in Newcastle and come out with a 44mm PAM.

Good choice, David. I’ve just tried to source a new 560 today but can’t seem to get one in Saigon.

Spooky as that's my preferred model. Bit expensive for me though. I might buy a PAM for my 50th next year but might have to be used for cost purposes.

That’s just the problem. I don’t trust it getting to me. I can order from HK but would rather wait until the borders open for a F2F
