i recently bought one from cousinsuk.com but i have to say the AR coating is not that visible, just a tinge of blue at certain angles.
Good evening gentlemen.
My Gnomon OVM Ocean 1, 39mm is a lovely watch. The only thing I'm not keen on is the domed crystal. I think I would prefer a flat crystal. It would make it perfect for me. Does anyone know of a company that could supply me with a flat sapphire crystal with blue A/R coating to fit.
Thanks
Kaffe

I've had a look at Cousins website. It seems the A/R coating is on the top side only. Think I would prefer it to be on the underside. Will keep looking. Cheers.
If the flat crystal has straight sides (I.e. not tapered) can’t you just fit it “upside down”?

That's a far too obvious solution! There must be a reason why this wouldn't work but I can't think why not. I'll measure the original crystal and take it from there. Cheers.
I’ve looked at those from cousins and often wondered the same (can it be installed upside
down?!).
Although not very visible, does the AR coating work?

Test the AR coating with distilled water droplets ETC.
Interested to hear how that works too!
I've had good success with Crystal Times on various Seiko mods, only used the clear AR versions though. They have a nice bevel on the underside which makes it easy to get an even marriage with the gasket.
After a bit of Googleing I found this:
"It can be difficult to tell which side of the glass is coated, especially for thin glass. My tried and true method is to place a small drop of alcohol or distilled water onto the surface and look for a color change where the drop makes contact with the glass. The liquid changes the effective index of refraction of the AR coating. If there is no color change then that side of the glass is not coated.
The downside of this method is you have to clean the liquid drop off of the surface. I use the corner of an absorbent paper towel to wick the liquid from the surface. To remove any residual residue I use a cotton bud."
I will give it a try. Though wont be using alcohol.
