Who has a Subaru Impreza 22B STi in a barn?

Looks like they’re worth serious money!

    Wow that’s mad money!

Hopefully my Legacy Spec B might be worth that much in a couple of years!

I know where there is one, literally in a barn. Farmer client son has it...not driven but to an MOT once a year.

    Mental!

These were under £40,000 new, twice the price of the standard 2000 Turbo but what a car.

Looked at one in 2002. Uk spec and thought it was dear at £24995. Bought a 4 door Impreza in the end. Add it to the list of regrets.

    Blimey.

Reminds me of when I nearly bought an M3 CSL for 25k - they’ve appreciated lots but nothing like that!

To add some balance to this - the USA has only very recently (2020) allowed the import of JDM models and the car scene over there worships cars like this so it's really a case of supply and demand.

22B's have been over £100k for a good few years now, but yep that's a lot of money.

They've always allowed imports over 25 years old and people were talking up an explosion on R32 Skyline prices long before they qualified. This one isn't quite there yet hence -

To any potential buyer of this car, please take note that the vehicle is in the United States under an approved “show or display” exemption. Transfer of ownership must be approved by the NHTSA before the title changes hands. The buyer must also apply for a new “show or display” approval from the NHSTA and provide current photos of the car. Potential buyers should be aware that the vehicle is limited to up to 2,500 miles per year and must be made available for inspection by NHTSA until it is not less than 25 years old.
Imagine what it'll be worth in a couple of years when it can be registered as easily as any other car...
