    What a glorious ending!

How they could think just for a minute that they would get away with this BS is truly beyond my imagination. Twelve clubs, lots of senior management. Nobody told them that this had zero chance of success?

I am curious to see if there is any medium term fallout? Must be so many fans who are so disappointed, will they just return to their fan duties as soon as the stadiums open again?

I had a wry grin about the Real Madrid president complaining about debt and needing to earn more.
Stop buying players at 100-200million and paying players over 200K a week
    Job done.

Yes, I hope this whole episode opens up a dialogue on how things can be truly reformed. Long time coming. Also hope these billionaire owners who are in it purely for financial returns are pushed out.

Woodward going is the grail but if chief instigator Perez goes then that would be the Holy grail, all of this was just his Real Madrid bailout as they have fallen behind the Premier League teams, he said the ESL would save football but he meant Real.

Govt legislation like Germany's on 49% private ownership only, should do the trick, hope Boris comes through, he's good at the Exits and it would be hugely popular.

Woodward was due to go anyway at the end of the year. This has only brought forward the announcement.

(Comparing the wealth of Abramovic to the Shiekh (!) hasn’t gone unnoticed either but we’ll leave that for now)

If you signed up, you signed up, but no doubt we’ll be fed a load of crap in the next few day of how “we did it under duress”

All as guilty are each other in my view, though my gut instinct is the Glazers and Perez are the instigators
I'm no Chelski fan but looking online he is being hailed as the saviour and a genuine owner, so looks like he's got away with dancing with the devil.

They should give them a points deduction to make sure they don’t reach the Champions league next season as punishment.

Apparently Arsenal are the latest now to pull out.

I just hope these clubs are punished for this stupid attempt.

All of them have now pulled out, over quicker than it started.

It seems obvious that the players and managers have had little notification of this too. You only had to listen to Milner and Bingo yesterday after the game to get that. I hope Guardiola is as equally scathing but I have my reservations knowing how cosy he is with Soriano and Berigistain on City’s board.
The other issue is the fans. Our voices have been useless for years , these behemoths do no more than pay lip service to our feelings and thoughts . ‘Legacy fans’ indeed . They don’t need us in the stadium other than to create an atmosphere. The rich pickings are elsewhere.

This ESL is merely the beginning. There will be Draft Picks, I can almost guarantee the water breaks /advertising break will be the norm. The games will be played worldwide in Tokyo, New York etc etc . These Yanks are poison, more so than the oil money Sheikhs so hated by the average fan . As sevvy said before, our owners have pumped in billions , not just into the club but into the infrastructure of East Manchester and local communities .Someof the building projects they have planned are really ambitious but this goodwill could all be undone almost instantly. I’m still hopeful that Citywill have the guts to pull out .
Well…. You can cheer up now Lee!

Guardiola hit the nail on the head

    What a totally bizarre 48 hrs….

Now…. What punishment shall we doll out?

Dock you all 30 points this season would be nice!!!!

It looks like they've all been very cute in their approach to this by saying they didn't want to leave the EPL, just play an extra midweek competition. Technically that probably means the EPL doesn't have grounds for punishments. UEFA on the other hand do and that'll be interesting for this seasons competitions and next.

Fair play to Arsenal on their statement “we made a mistake and we apologise for it”.

As Wolfie said Pep was brutally honest but he quite rightly called the other PL clubs cynical as well as calling out UEFA. It’s easy for the teams not invited to get on their high horse.

If UEFA and FIFA really cared about the game they wouldn’t have over commercialised it the way they have. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand why these organisations have their HQ’s in Switzerland.

I’ve been a City fan for over 45 years and it’s been a blast this past 10 years but these players are human and you see the scheduling and think it’s just gone too far. I’ll be watching Villa v City tomorrow but it won’t be with the same level of enthusiasm.

Found on Twitter “as a punishment, each of the six teams are to be managed by Jose for six months”.

Nope because I dont suffer from any of the above. I dont believe in odd conspiracy theories with rival football clubs and the police either or obsess over other football teams and try and shoe horn them into every conversation.

If you could point out where at any point I have been delusional, revisionist or blinkered regarding football please do.

Football is broken because of greed. Look at UEFA and FIFA, corruption and wealth is right there in the governing bodies. I had to laugh when the UEFA president called the breakaway clubs greedy, pot kettle black me thinks.

Until there is an independent body running the game and that body is accountable for every penny generated and spent, then the game will never be anything but tarnished.

Let’s look back at how USFA ignored the FFP breaches by City and PSG with just a slap on the wrists. How the hell they can justify such weak punishments for their own strict rules is beyond me. You move on to the cash for world cups FIFA scandal, what more can you say. Then you have the FA being able to pay 1 billion to build Wembley, where did that money come from. It’s bent top down, from FIFA cash for bids to Man City creating fake sponsorship deals with his brothers company. Total joke.

Great to see the fans exercise their power and the club's listening I think they must have believed they could leverage compromise from UEFA before being seen as good guys for abandoning the ESL but fans shouldn't forget what these owners have done. That said, UEFA are not a great deal better and major change is needed all round.

John Barnes was just on BBC Breakfast talking a lot of sense.

This isn't a victory for fans or the working classes, it's been a power play/struggle between super wealthy people and organisations that has played out.

Ticket prices will still be sky high, TV rights (passed onto supporters as expensive Pay TV channels) will still be sky high, the constant round of stupidly expensive re-sponsored shirts/away kits/2nd-reserve-Thursday-night-matches kits will continue to leech money from the supporters and players (who seem to have been painted as purer than the driven snow by the media) will still be expecting ridiculous salaries to kick a ball around and carry out some ham acting in the penalty box.

Football isn't about sport, it's about money, so expect to see more of these shenanigans in the future.

You only have to look at the decision to make some games pay per view during COVID which was quickly reversed to realise there are no organisations who can claim any moral high ground.

John W Henry puts out a grovelling apology on YouTube. Clearly shocked by the response since Sunday.

Looking forward to the other Chairmen getting up on their hind legs and fronting up...apparently Spurs thought it was the WSL they were joining.

Inter back pedalling but Juventus and Real seemingly doubling down. The power struggle isn’t over quite yet, but Sky will be reporting otherwise because of course they have their Premier League back and that’s all they care about.

Yup, just hearing that Perez and Real Madrid and Juve still want to go ahead, they are so desperate to save Real I think the Bailout/ESL might still go ahead with 6 teams if it means Real can get some cash and stay in business, Perez has called the English clubs traitors - yeah we English are traitors to your Spanish Bailout Dream, he's one mad delusional egomaniac.

A bloke on Talk Sport yesterday said he's been an Arsenal fan for 30+ years but switched to Palace four years ago. He was paying £1300 a season for his season ticket behind the goal yet the same seat at Palace is £580 for him and his son! And he loves the feeling of Palace being a more family based club than corporate Arsenal.
