    MacBook battery service DIY

Has anybody attempted this themselves? If so, where did you source the battery (good quality) and tools, was it straight forward for average DIYer? Any issues further down the road after changing? Thanks

I’ve done it, but on an older Macbook before they started gluing the batteries in. It was easy. Not sure I would bother with the glued in models though - in the grand scheme of things you don’t save *that* much money by DIYing it, and you will be at the mercy of shitty aftermarket Chinese batteries.

I'd just go to Apple direct these days.

The older MacBook are easier to upgrade or replace bits on.

Luke Miani on YouTube has some great vids on fixing various MacBooks that are fun to watch.

I have a 2014 MacBook Pro and the battery life isn’t that great anymore.

I was looking at getting a ifixit kit which get very good reviews but they are £99 and I’ll have to figure in the risk of damage.

Apple will do it for £129.

    Cheers, Shaun

"Well they would say that ... wouldn't they!"

Which model of MacBook do you have? Some are easier to upgrade than others.

Described as “difficult”. But really depends how you are at this kind of thing.

This is the correct link for your MacBook.

It isn’t a straightforward DIY job. A battery service from Apple is £199.
