Baume & Mercier - new Riviera

I'm not generally a fan of polygonal watch designs (Bvlgari 8to Finissimo excepted), but B&M have just (re)released their 1973 Riviera design, replete with sapphire dials and seriously-nice 120 hour/5-day in-house movement, and I have to say, I really like it:

They've slimmed the bezel proportions to good effect, and updated everything. The original may have followed on the coat-tails of Genta's 1972 RO (despite B&M's claim to have been the first) - but to my eye it's a better design, and at Eu3,600 is about a tenth of the price of an RO or Nautilus yet better spec'd!

Saw these the other day - the black Baumatic one looks seriously cool as well (at least in pictures)

    That is very nice indeed!!

Even as an RO Owner I would consider owning that.

That's a great looking watch with an interesting movement and a decent price, and yet I've not seen a whisper about it in the watch press I read on a daily basis. Lots of stories about Rolex bracelets though.

The "5 Days" kills it for me, less is more with text on dials

I quite like the shape and bracelet, and it's a lot of watch for the money.

I am less sure about the semi-transparent dial - there seems to be a sister model with a nice blue dial with wave pattern, however with a generic movement and 38hrs reserve only (plus a smaller date window):

Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.

is there a non date version ?

also possibly non roman perhaps ?

nice otherwise - well except for the bolts in the bezel.

and would it be slimmer if a hand winder ?

ok, just kidding about the handwound
i do quite like it , but the tweaks would help ...
