    MWC 'Dirty Dozen'

    No law against pretentious descriptions.

Why's that pretentious? Great looking watch and great idea ...
Right size, clever sounding movement, no silly fonts or weird brand names... disappointing water resistance.... I'd probably buy one if I hadn't heard such poor things about MWC's quality.

I know they got off to a bad start, but I own two recent-ish models and they've been faultless - I even damaged one (my fault) and they replaced the entire watch FOC even though I admitted the fault was mine. Feels like they've got their act together now.

As stated in the ebay listing:

MWC are a leading supplier, not just to the military but also to police forces, anti terrorist units, airlines, mining companies and a diverse variety of government agencies and departments. They are one of the largest specialist manufacturers of high performance military watches and produce a wide range of models either to customers specific design requirements or by tendering for contracts where quality, reliability and durability are of primary importance.

It's a bit disappointing that the watch tries to draw on both WWW and Dirty Dozen heritage. It's a poor homage to those names, showing no attention to detail & bearing little resemblance when you look close. Almost an afterthought to reference these terms. As a watch in it's own right at that price point not that bad.

Well, that's a new angle compared to the OP's gripe.* I suspect all this thread is actually about is MWC-hating along the lines of 'haters gonna hate'. Boring - but that's the internet.

As regards the OPs gripe, I agree the marketing lines may, or may not, be a bit of a silly list of claims, but I couldn't really care less.* It affects my life nought - as does most marketing hyperbole.

If I were to be slightly MWC-hyperbole-judgey, and I'm not, I would think that, if not true, its blurb is a bit of a covering-personal-inadequacy type of claim; but given the - to me -* bizarre* 'issue' obsession of some punters, I can see why it may be felt to be a clever marketing line..... but the bottom line is, I just don't care.* I've 3 decades+ invested in the Forces, and I simply don't care. It doesn't offend me, and I see it for what it is: just a marketing blurb.

More pertinent, I would suggest, is: "are the watches any good?'

    Which, you address:

"As a watch in it's own right at that price point not that bad."

    So that's nice. 😊

The watch is a homage to the WWW ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches and to be honest their are worse attempts out there. It doesn’t try to copy any particular maker but is more of a generic style. (There is more than a hint of JLC there though)
Would I buy one - no
Is it the worst watch I have ever seen - no
Is their marketing complete BS - yep!

    MOVEMENT

What movement does MWC use in their dirty dozen hommage?

According to the eBay description linked above, "Quartz VD78 Movement". MWC website also details a "21 Jewel Automatic Movement" option for an extra 50 quid.

I bought an MWC on a really ratty old issued NATO a while back. Chucked the rubbish half away. Still getting great use from the NATO ;-)

It is the spitting image of the Vertex Dirty Dozen reissue watch IMO, which is larger at 40mm compared to this one. Price has since gone up by 50 notes.
