    Amateur cycle repair help

Again I call on the TZ collective
Just fixing up an old Trek hybrid for fun really
The rear wheel has a wobble and I’ve found the culprit- looks like it’s snapped
What’s it called so I can source a replacement
    Thanks
I presume it’s not supposed to be in 2 parts

Search bicycle quick release bolt / skewer and you should find it

Going via the photo it looks like it’s a cup & cone hub, if so did you save all the ball bearings? Are they and the cups in the hub in a good state?

Depending how many years/miles/state it might be simpler to replace the wheel.

I’ve got the ball bearings and the bike actually looks although it’s had little use
    Hub measures 145 I think
    Is this what I need?

    Maybe this will be better

You will need the correct cone spanner’s, check the cup surface in the hub body, looking at the state of the axle I expect they are in a poor state.

Its not just the quick release , its as stated above the axle.

Local bike shops charge very little to fettle wheels. Your probably looking at £12/15 including parts. I would just take it to your LBS NOT Halfrauds.

Have a look on fb marketplace for items near to you and find a set of wheels to fit, there are usually loads for sale.

I’ve never done one so can’t confirm but suspect they’ll be a guide on the Sheldon Brown site or YouTube to get a sense you’ve got the right spares.

if its cup/cone then fairly simple to replace. Its all on youtube. thats a hollow axle and quick release. If the hub has gone then a bike shop can prob build a new wheel. malcolm at the Cycle Clinic is the guy I use but a regular local bike shop will advise you.
