    Snowflakes going horizontally

Easter Monday, a bank holiday here in the Netherlands. The snow is going horizontally. 10 mins bursts of snow, hail and lots of wind in those showers. More to come the next days. 2C... Only a week ago, we hit the +20C mark!

I came in here thinking this was a chat about the valuation of Tudor Submariner Snowflakes - which just shows what a one-track mind I have.

Depending on the type of street lighting you have you can photograph snowflakes either as an apparent straight line or as an apparent row of dots, due to the flicker rate of said lights (@ 120Hz I think). Did a little experimenting a while ago . . .

We also have winter back for a day, raining wet snow today. It's not uncommon early spring, and we have a specific word for it - direct translation would be back-winter.

I'm glad it's cold. We just need a few more weeks of vaccinations for the vulnerable before everyone thinks this pandemic is over and all go out and we hit a 3rd wave like mainland Europe.

Slippery slide of politics here, but it's a fact that the UK is far ahead when it comes to vaccinations. Don't get me started on this part of the forum about the situation in the Netherlands.

Set out this afternoon for a walk with my girls in a rab puffer as it was snowing
25 mins later I’m on the promenade in my Tshirt
