No new GMTs or BB58 or Seamaster then? Hearing a green or red BB58

Didn’t omega just announce a whole load of releases last week?

If Tudor could disassociate itself with David Beckham that would be a good start.

Why does he look like Derek Zoolander in all their ads? - narrow eyes, pout, look mean and moody - nearly as off-putting as the Travolta Breitling adverts of a few years ago!

From my experience with the 58, just a matter of popping in and get to the list. 4/5 weeks and that’s done.

I lost track...did you ever commit to a BB58 or an Omega? If not, you are back to square one with these options!

Actually the more I think about it their celebrity endorsements are a bit on the nose. So we need manly men to want to buy a Tudor watch. How about David Beckham - blokes like football right? - oh but what about girls, not forgetting the lgbtq crowd, hey, Lady Gaga! That’s it, everybody’s happy - and their endorsement is bound to be ‘reassuringly expensive’ like our watches. Plus they’re both ‘fashion’ people so that’s the yoof Instagram crowd covered, job done!

The word on the street is the return of the Tudor Submariner.

    40mm, £2,500.

Can't see it being that popular.

I would be shocked if they did that. Surely it would nearly kill the black bay.

Agreed. People have been saying this for years. The BB range is the Tudor sub. Why would they bring out a sub like the Rolex and effectively devalue the Rolex sub. It makes no sense.

They wouldn’t. Tudors watches have to offer something either vintage or quirky enough to differentiate themselves from Rolex, without impeding on Rolex’s design or offering too much of a viable alternative. There were enough compromises with the Heritage Ranger to make it a decent alternative for those that couldn’t afford an Explorer, without being so good that those that could afford an Explorer would choose the Ranger over it.

The Submariner is Rolex DNA, as are the Mercedes hands. Rolex are the most ID savvy brand in the world, they won’t dilute that ID by letting another brand use a design that is intrinsically theirs and thus reducing the desirability of it. Likewise the snowflake hands are Tudors modern DNA, it distinguishes them as a brand in their own right - why would they want to go back to being a cheap Rolex parody after a decade of establishing themselves?

The Black Bay is to modern Tudor what the Sub is to Rolex. There is no way you will see a Tudor Sub reissued, I just cannot fathom that the two brands would see it as anything but harmful to each of their respective IDs.

I’d like to see Tudor make a smaller Ranger if the Explorer is going bigger, and relaunch the the Black Bay line with a slimmer case (15mm is too hefty).

I’d take any GMT in a BB58 size to be fair.

I’d sell my current BB GMT for a 58 GMT. I prefer the comfort of my 58 over my GMT.

Definitely. The BB58 is pretty much the perfect size.

    Wednesday thoughts and dread!

I’m thinking it could be a ceramic Coke bezel GMT. - hopefully in the Black Bay Fifty Eight group.
The teaser shows a merging of black and red powder which suggests ceramic- to me at least 🧐
Tudor are being very bullish about Wednesday whereas Rolex are saying their offering is going to be relatively low key after the Sub and OP launch last September.
Either way the phones will be melting 😩

Out of interest, what on Tudors Instagram indicates a coke bezel gmt possibility?

If so will this likely have a waiting list? And how long do they normally take to come through to stores?

The original BB58 is a black bezel with a black face, just like the regular larger Black Bay. The difference is the colour of the markings. So I'm not sure why you think they wouldn't do the same with the red bezel.

A version of the 58 with a red bezel would be a pretty unimaginative addition... I think Tudor will go a little further than that.

I'm not suggesting it's what they will do, but it's not hard to imagine them doing it either.

If your company strap line is Born to Dare ... sticking a red bezel on an existing watch isn’t really cutting the mustard ...

Trouble is, when they released the P01, everyone had a meltdown. They released the BB58 blue and everyone celebrated like it was the return of Jesus. The Tudor royal had fans but I think most enthusiasts thought it was a miss.

The market is telling them to be conservative. As much as I’d like to see something which isn’t a BB, I’m not holding my breath.

This is how the process works.

Make about 25-30 posts on TZ-UK asking opinions about which to buy-Tudor or Omega, which one will hold the value, which one is a future classic, where is the best place to buy, what kind of discount to expect, whether the price you saw online is fair etc. By that time it will be time for 2022 releases. Rinse and repeat:-)
