Looking for some advice on a problem that has occurred on my wife’s Volvo XC60 from 2015.
Switch of the engine, and the air blowers inside the car are still running. This continues even once the key is removed and the doors are locked
It drained the battery on Thursday night, and I managed to jump start it (took some time), and drove down to our local garage to take a look.
Googling this, it appears to have been a problem on Volvos for the last 10 years at least, and they haven’t fixed it.
The local garage is not able to diagnose properly it seems having spoken to them this morning, but they have suggested changing the heating resister, at a cost of around £220 including fitting. If this were guaranteed to fix then I would go ahead with it, but they are just guessing.
Before I pick the car up and drop off at the main dealer, has anyone any experience of this, and if so any advice on resolution ?
Thanks in advance

I had a V70 with the same problem a few years ago - a failed/failing resistor that needed replacing if I remember correctly.

Try a hard battery reset - disconnect battery and leave for circa 30 minutes, will allow all modules to go fully to sleep
May not help but it’s free and easy and if the HVAC module has got itself in a mess then it could sort it
Thanks - I did disconnect the battery after I managed to jump start, but the problem was still occurring when I reconnected a few hours later
This place is suggesting the heating resistor, but want to be sure it is the right one.
Think I have found an independent Volvo repair place that I will try that will hopefully have the schematics they need
In the past I have used wechillanycar.com and have been happy with the outcome. Convenient as they came to me and the individuals I liaised with came across as knowledgeable.
Whilst they are not Volvo specialists, they are Aircon specialists.
I think it’s quite a common fault, happens if the pollen filter isn’t changed often enough (the garage I used was an independent run by a guy who used to look after all the met police Volvo fleet so he was a bit of an expert!) - the only trouble is getting to it, needs most of the dash out (mine was on a W plate so we’re going back a few years)

I run an older Volvo, some very helpful people on this forum have sorted a few issues for me https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/
I had a helpful response from a guy Volvoforums including the likely part number which matched what the local garage told me.
However, they are not that keen on the work which tells me that is is probably a bit tricky, so left with either the main dealer or local garage - whoever can fit us in first, but looks like the car is out of action for a week or so which is a pain during the Easter holidays.
