    Metal railings

    Hi
In the process of getting our driveway sorted out and part of that will mean the addition of some metal railings.

These will probably need to be attached to the walls via bolts as the walls will go up soon and we haven’t decided on the railings yet.

Anyone got any recommendations for suppliers?

There are a few fabrication companies locally that I might call but wanted to see if anyone had used one of the online suppliers recently?

    Thanks

I have used local fabricators before.
If in West London there is a guy in Park Royal who is very good. There is another in Acton Town / Chiswick.
You can design your own and they will install.
Happy to pm details if of interest

Thanks. Is the one in Park Royal actually Wembley based?
I don’t need installation just the supply.

If you want some really lovely work done by a great guy I can personally recommend Steve Capper who trades as Ironfighters. He’s in SE London.

Whoever designs it - make sure that they measure, not you.
The Evil Measuring Fairy ensures that if you measure and send dimensions to a fabricator - they won't fit.
Make sure it is their fault, not yours.

No he is at the south end of the park royal trading estate, nearer Acton.
Most fabricators will happily supply and let you put them up.
I have found it best to let them install, as they can deal with any issues minor mods whilst installing as they have the kit on the van.

Thanks. If you could share the details that would be great.

We will be getting the wall built first and then measuring so hopefully things can be accurate!

Just as a thought, when Steve mentioned in my post above did a job for us he built the ends of the railings into the brick pillars (he’s an excellent bricklayer too). At the end of the day, a determined enough thief can demolish a wall and even if you use brackets and bolts a weld on each fixing will act as a deterrent as an angle grinder in the middle of the night isn’t going to be quiet!

I can thoroughly recommend Pleshey Forge in Chelmsford, Essex. I was at school with one of the directors over 35 years ago. It’s a family firm of many generations and absolutely top notch. They’ll cover London and Shane comes from a family of Builders. They have done work for me over the years as a Surveyor and supply many top notch Building firms locally too.
